Anyone have any experience as to why you would want to unlock the TCC when upshifting? GM programmed it to do this on the 4L80E, as well as downshift which makes sense to me to get some RPMs up. I have been testing it without unlocking in upshift and seems to firm up the shifting from 3rd to...

Apparantly not compatable with our PCMs, for 6.5s, so I assume for the Optimizer. AMG mentions the Optimizer uses an advanced contoller on thier website. Maybe we need to figure out how to get one of these AMG PCMs...
I have been writing up different information from all the modifications I have performed or researched. Some of it only applies to 1994 and 1995 OBD1 trucks, quite a bit of it to 96 trucks, less applies to 97-99 trucks, and even less to 2000 year trucks.
These are only my recommendations...
Hello, I was wondering if anyone that has tore down or built up a head noticed if the exhaust valves have rotator retainers, or all just regular retainers on the valve springs?
The 6.5 diesel has the rotators, but I was wondering if GM continued using in the diesel trucks? It wasnt common on...
And what I summarize a lot of that to mean is that our camshaft design is innefficient and that a better one that had less negative overlap would improve efficiency and power significantly. Of course to achieve this new piston designs have valve reliefs and simply lower compression with larger...
Anyone using Shell Rotella T5 or have any reason not to use it?

So I was making this spreadsheet trying to see how different parameters of the engine affects temperatures in the cylinder, and what would lead to potentially high EGTs as a symptom of an issue.
Attached is my spreadsheet and it shows something quite profound. That IAT has the most...
I got this thread in the tranny section if anyone has info about whats involved in installing the Sonnax Sure Cure kits.

Has anyone performed the sure cure upgrade? I have the 6.5 with 4L80E obviously....
I think THIS PRODUCT is for modifying the Pressure Control Solenoid and the Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid valves, for $85.

Hey all,
I have a blinking parking brake light, 4 short then 1 long, its constant from moment I turn key to on. Anyone have the definition for this?
I can't find the definition of this in my manuals, but discerned that typically a fluid pressure problem to front or back. Well discs and...
I installed new Autolite Glow Plugs less than 2 years ago and even in CA the hard starting began a few months ago. In this last month it got really bad, but of course it was never so cold that I couldnt start the truck. I would just have to crank for 10-15 seconds on the cold 45F mornings and...
Hello,
Does anyone have the specs/dimensions/weight on the stock pistons? I know diameter, but....
stock weight: with or without pins/rings/rods
How tall are they from skirt bottom to piston top?
Compression height: center of pin to top of piston?
The distance between the top...
For those that have ordered the flowmaster, or bullydog downpipes or any other kind what is the interface on the exhaust side.
I'm looking for one that is just a straight 3" pipe to connect to, or even 4" I guess.
So I cant tell but the flowmaster looked to have a connection flange...
Hello,
I was wondering what most people considered the best design for a diesel muffler. Most people like a straight through, but what if youre looking for a quiet ride?
what design features should be avoided:
chambered
baffled
perforated tubes
insulation material
I was looking...
Here is my Propane Fumigation project, just for you Matt, so anxious.
It worked well until my pressure switches failed, dont put those on the intake, found warning on the box afterwards.
So when I get new pressure switches or figure out a better way to do it on the cheap I'll update this...
Matt was making me feel bad for being lazy and not getting any pictures up of projects.
I used all 3/8" fuel hose. A 12 micron pre lift pump fuel filter from NAPA that I mounted using a large door hinge and some long bolts through the frame for stability. The Walbro FRB5 is mounted on the...
I just took the CDR out of the valve cover, put the grommet on the oil fill and shoved the CDR into the grommet. Its a nice snug fit too. It hits the hoodliner but doenst seem to be an issue. I used a 3/4" heater hose to connect the CDR to the intake elbow, just had some 1/2" pipe I cut and...
Is there a good thread about camshafts? Any gains to be had? I had read the one from SSD provided some low end bump in performance.
With stock valves and springs would it matter?
Could it help off the line, or with slight turbo lag on ATT? Maybe get rid of that puff of black smoke...
Anyone have any problems with the less expensive deep pans with air tubes through them, like this one?
Are there any issues with the gasket area bending when tightening bolts? Otherwise there are the expensive cast aluminum ones that claim wont bend.
30% of the cost seems nice and I...
Anyone relocate their batteries or a battery to the bed? I was considering a 0 AWG wire from the driver side battery to a battery in my toolbox. Leaving one in the engine bay.
Also, anyone see any issues adding a third battery? I considered putting the third battery on an isolator also in...
