What i have: 12v from the gray/black at the dome light, feeding the dome and map lights on the bulb side(yellow). Diodes are installed on white between each map bulb and switch to the switched ground(door switch). Map light switches are grounded to chassis ground on purple/white Is this correct?

Has anyone been able to get this wired so that the maps come on with the dome light?? If so, can you please advise how you did it?

I actually used the dome light cut out and moved the dome light back towards the rear of the cab.

Did anyone ever get this to work, I put it on the back burner for now.

Im changing the original headliner/visors from tan to pewter, so the original color code for the trim pieces wont work.

Im having trouble locating the coat hooks, grab bar and visors in the color that I want. Its an '04 Silverado W/T, I believe its referred to as a Classic (It's the one with the angled headlamps). I want ones that are the same color as the A-pillars, but i don't know how to correctly determine...

Here is a diagram I was able to locate. I put the project off for a while, but getting back to it, and I still cant get all the lights to come on with the dome and work the map lights independently.

The dome light wires are black(switched negative) and brown with black tracer.

Are the diodes aupposed to point towards the bulbs or away from them?

Thanks for your responses, I'm sorry, its not your explanation, its just that i'm more of a visual learner. I understand the the "why", just not the "how", if that makes sense. Thanks again.

This is what I have. I understand reversing the polarity, but I'm unclear about where/how to place the diodes, and splices.

I read all that but I would like more specific information, such as maybe a diagram, and the type of diode I would need. Thank you.
