I got my first truck back…

So only code is P0420 which was on the day before he left on the trip. It has new O2 sensors as of last year, no know vacuum leaks. I may swap O2 sensors side to side to see if it follows the sensor or not, but im guessing likely time for a cat 26 years / 300k miles. exhaust system is all...

I got my first truck back…

BDYJ, what are the codes as I see SES? Pending codes, and not sure if the earlier GMT800 (99-02) is the same, but on my 05 there are some VERY important PCM grounds on the back of the engine heads that corrode and can cause some atrange crap. I believe the passenger side. One of mine has...

    1993 K3500 1 Ton Dump Truck Build

I've only seen one video where the GMT800 lower was used in this conversion, and there were no clearance issues with the shock/ no modifications needed to the 800 LCA shock mount. However on this truck the shock rubs against the edge of the bump stop mount on the frame. The front end has been...

    1993 K3500 1 Ton Dump Truck Build

2023 saw some progress, GMT800 front brake upgrade and a custom front crossover for the Banks sidewinder manifold. I had purchased the manifold in 2020 as something of a panic buy when covid hit, and was glad I did as it's no longer available and a better configuration than stock. I did a...

    GMT800 Door Pins & Bushings

The Dorman bushings do not last very long, that’s if you can get them in without breaking them.

    GMT800 Door Pins & Bushings

Good call Big T, they have a gmt800 full set for $53 plus bushings. I will purchase them when I revisit this. I even see oversize bushings too.

    GMT800 Door Pins & Bushings

Just recently my drivers door has gotten sloppy. Tougher to close and getting more wind noise than ever. Looks like options are limited to SKP and Dorman across all big box stores and RA. Looks like there are 2 different types: Has anyone had experience with either? Is the thread on superior...

    cs130 to cs144

...the top mounting ear over to the engine lifting eye for a little more rigidity. The AD244 is a 185 amp alternator that is factory for the GMT800 series rigs that required the higher output.. being yours is a 5.7 gas engine, mounting will be different. what I did was scavenge out in the...

    My 2005 Yukon XL

I would assume its all internal, I think that's the case on a GMT800. The alternator is newer (3-years old) as I replaced it in a precautionary manner back when I got the Yukon. I actually have an old spare alternator in the basement for a backup. Would it be worth trying to unplug the...

    My 2005 Yukon XL

Haha, 100% correct. This is the Fisher plow headgear. Reading how I wrote it I can see the thinking! Going to wait for a lull in the weather to tackle the headlight job and lift cylinder resealing kit. Fingers crossed we make it through the next 3 days. I do have a quart of extra blue fluid to...

    My 2005 Yukon XL

...for a while trying to rattle my brain where in the heck this lives on a Yukon. couldn't do it. then realized when I saw the pic of the lift cylinder, this must be the remote headlights mounted on the plow. no way that was a factory design on the GMT800's. haha. sorry about the busted nut.

Another 2 door Tahoe for me

Thank you. Driving it around Saturday renewed my love for it and the 2 door Tahoes. It's a really nice size to drive around and to park. I think if I spend a little time to fix the rust it has, I can keep it in good shape for many years to come if I am smart with coatings and keep it washed...

Another 2 door Tahoe for me

Looks awesome Nate. I agree, a small lift is what I would do. I cant leave anything alone either. When I had my GMT400s I always wanted a GMT800, mostly because of the hype. Now that I have an 800 I do really like it, and it is a great platform, but I grew up in 400s and always have a soft...

Is there a thread on the brake conversion?

    GMT800 steering freeplay

Simple fix in the cab that eliminates a bit of the slop. I heard of this before but never done it. Then stumbled on this short YouTube video…

Welcome. The common term for gm trucks after square body is GMT400. The series after that is GMT800 in the 2000 range

    Lower Control Arms

The GMT800 lower control arms fit the torsion bars and bolt right in, but that would also require going the full GMT800 brake conversion. Curious as to what a machine shop would charge, is getting them sleeved an option or do they need to weld/ build up the opening and then re bore? Wrecker...

GMT800 Rear Inner Brake Pad or Rotor Issue

Not entirely sure whats wrong yet, but it doesn't look right. Look at how the new pad sits in in the mount on each side of the rotor. Notice a big difference? If you can't tell via pad and mount, look at where the rotor rides in the opening of the bracket! Its not centered even woth the...

    My 2005 Yukon XL

I agree, always gave me PMD heat soak fears, but to be honest I have only had a single GMT800 coil fail in my experience with them. One thing I didn't realize was there are 2 types of coils for these engines square and round. I guess that is where the difference in wire length comes from...

GMT 800 Brake Conversion > Silverado HD 2500

The brakes on my 93 seem to work perfectly, but on my 95 they are much to be desired. I assume for a 3500 I would use one for a gmt800 3500 truck. thought about trying one for a gmt400 HD and see what happened.
