Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

Then again if that fails then I will plan on using the heads on the 6.5 that's in the 93. it runs and doesn't "mysteriously" loos coolant, it leaks coolant LOL I would assume that I could lap the valves and run them as is and still come out with a "better" worn out engine.

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

I have never disassembled lifters! I know there is a keeper on the top but I always thought just the cup that holds the push rod comes out, the rest was all machined together. are there any seals/o-rings inside them or small metal pieces like a miniature piston ring that would deturr me from...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

While I was at it with the gasoline bathing, I pulled the lifters and hardware and cleaned up all of the rockers, push rods, and lifters so I could inspect them. curious if the lifters can go into the ultrasonic cleaner. if they can, what should I use in it? I would assume nothing that's...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

I would have tried to lap #6 and run it only seeing the one area of the seat that was thin, but after finding the other spot that is completely fubar, it's toast! @Will L. maybe this constitutes for a vote for some carnage! I have one other option and that's pulling the heads off this other...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

Well folks.... Bad news brown! I spend some time this evening dissembling both heads and giving them a gasoline bath to get the remaining sludge out. started inspecting all everything and well, they both have some issues. the worst is the #6 intake seat is really fubar. I have not...

    My son's 1968 Chevy

Well, I went to pickup the head and when I talked to the machinist, his office clerk was mistaken. the head wasn't ready yet. he said when he turned in the paperwork to the office, it was a list of repairs and all that was to be done and he mistook that for the job was complete. he said he...

The tranny seal will be a different seal, the bushing doesn't need to be replaced if the yolk is not sloppy. there is a tolerance that it can move but idk what that tolerance is.

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

That's what I like the milk crates for. keeps all that stuff tidy in the back. When it slides, it all slides across together and doesn't play WWE in the bed LOL

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

The only place I've been able to find it is on the jungle site. no one local here carries any of the flavors of that stuff.

Also when pulling the shaft, before pulling it out of the trans. grab it and check up/down and side to side play. if it wiggles too much, there is a bronze bushing that will need love and attention.

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Both of my trucks like the walmart TC-W3 (marine) two cycle oil. I will sometimes run about a quart in a full tank. most of the time I run the Stanadyne Lubricity Formula additive with the purple label iirc @Will L. was the one that said it's about the best for lubrication. it does nothing...

I was always on the side of the greasable ones, but recently I have heard others say the sealed one are better to go with. as for the selection, just measure your joints to determine which one is correct. always go with USA made and don't cheap out on them for reliability. last time I...

    Any opinions on PPE filters?

Never heard of this brand of filters.

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

That looks like a speed sensor on top of the oil pump drive. same type of reed switch sensor as what my son's truck has on the trans. the wheel inside has a 4 pole magnet which will close the contacts in the reed switch 4 times per revolution. having it on the oil pump drive would make it...

    Lower Intake Thread Repair Solutions.

Thinking about intakes... got me to wondering about the non-turbo intake. they are taller and the runners aren't as sharp of a bend going out to the ports on the heads, I wonder if they would have better flow if a hat was designed for them to seal up for a turbo. Just thinking out loud!

    My son's 1968 Chevy

Yeah I figured it would be LOL, the PO did tell us that he installed the engine at the same time replacing the speedo which the odometer was at all zeros but he said that was many moons ago! he's a little older than I am and told us he has had this truck since he was 17 years old! must had...

    My son's 1968 Chevy

It was kinda interesting to me hearing about how much wear was on the guides and the seats since this engine only has just under 8k miles on it since when it was fully rebuilt by the same machine shop years ago. If course IDk what was done and not done at the PO's digression.

    My son's 1968 Chevy

Well some good news! got a phone call today from the machine shop telling me the head is ready for pickup. they had to replace 7 of the studs along with replacing guides and he said the valve seats were not of the hardened type made for unleaded fuel! so those got replaced too. all in all it...
