18:1 can also be harder to start when its real cold. Played with that idea and decided to go with stock compression when rebuilding mine. If you need 30 over you might be stuck. I saw some 18:1 20 over's might be available. Good luck

IIRC, sleeving would equate to EVIL in a 6.2/6.5. is the block that bad you need 30 over? Any reason to not use 20:1?

Sounds like you might of also had a battery cable issue if you had different battery voltages while running. Have you pulled the battery cable bolts out and checked for corrosion? ( don't forget the spacer puck) You might have been starting on a single battery. Double check or you'll have...

The PCM need to collect information on crank and cam position so it knows when to fire the IP. Give it a short crank, turn off the key, then start. Why are you needing to disconnect? Is something stuck on and draining the batteries overnight?

I have never seen wait to start or a start on the first crank after pulling the batteries for a period of time. It seems that the computer needs to see a signals from a crank to find its way before it will start. Crack an injector line, say #1. ( this will give air an easy point to release)...
