How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Is it fighting you to go forward in a sharp turn or is the steering wheel fighting no wanting to turn?

    Cfpm

Will hit the nail on the head here! if your having a cooling issue and the fan doesn't seem to pull air like it should, first thing to check is the supply air pressure to the fan clutch. there is a valve with a electronic solenoid controlling the fan clutch. it could be going bad. also the...

is it time for a ported intake mod? 🤪

    Weak Power Steering Issues

You might be having a similar issue like I did on mine. when I started up my truck I had near perfect easy steering but after running for a little bit the fluid would heat up and the steering became harder under slow and idle conditions. what I learned that I was actually cooking the fluid...

    Fuel system setup

HAHA I just realized I replied to AK's post but in the wrong thread! then didn't catch it and derailed this one completely!! Oops!!

    Weak Power Steering Issues

Check the orifice size in the pump. it;s flow not pressure that is the problem. in most cases the OEM pump had the correct orifice size and when it was replaced with the re-manufactured, they tend to us a "one size fits all" for them. I had this issue with my 95 and regrettably returned the...

    Fuel system setup

Ok so the block and main caps should still be good then with new bearings and matched crank with new bearings. that was what I was curious about.

    Aluma seal or bars leaks ? ? ? ?

Running with a loose cap it will push coolant out the top. I have a spare radiator here (factory plastic tanks) that is designed for the pressurized tank up on the firewall if you need it we can figure out how to get it to you. I have never tested it as it came with all the pile of parts I...

    Fuel system setup

I was thinking about that since the main bearings have a tang that holds them from spinning, wondered if that gets damaged or it just damages the bearing where new bearings and crank would repair that portion.

    Chinese 6.5 block

Nice! was curious what the threaded T handle is for right above the receiver, but now I see it, it's to pinch the pintle hitch in place and not be loose in the receiver.

    Chinese 6.5 block

I would be interested in that! something that may be rebuild-able or might be able to parts from my engine and make a better running one. question, lets say if seized at the crank, possibly a spun bearing, is a block still usable in cases like that? Idk enough about engines to know what is...

    Fuel system setup

I was always taught that silicone grease (dielectric - the clear grease) won't degrade rubber like regular grease could swell and soften some rubber.

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Seems to start up fine and didn't see any smoke like before! Les is right. pumping the throttle does nothing. if your high idle and cold advance solenoid is working, you step on the pedal once with the key on then start, that will put the throttle in "high idle" mode till it warms up. but...

    Fuel system setup

a new SU should come with the o-ring. if you have to re-use. coat it heavy in silicone grease, the stuff that's used on electric connections, that stuff won't break down rubber and will help seal it. iirc the top of the SU is greased with some sort of preservative from the factory to help...

    Chinese 6.5 block

I've been going over things lately looking more and more into a summer project of attempting a cylinder hone and re-ring job on my 93 to try and save the engine. the more and more I look into it I am seeing the cost factor for what it would accomplish and thinking it's not worth it. if the...

    Chinese 6.5 block

Curious if a block has to be line bored if they make main bearings that are oversize on the OD rather than the ID when a crank is turned.

    Chinese 6.5 block

@93detroit It's been a while. I'm curious how things are going with the "Shanghai Shaker" Chinese 6.5.

‘98 6.5 TD stalled while driving and current no start

Will is got you on the right track here. I too don't think you have adequate fuel going to the IP from the LP. a video showing what your doing here will help. get a pressure gauge on the supply hose going into the IP for us to see. as smokymtn said, the OPS is what controls the LP, it...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

I went 265's on my brown truck simply to help lower the RPM on the freeway. on my black 93 with the "double overdrive" the 245's seem too much at times. I do like the slight lift in height with the 265's though, maybe a small lift with smaller tires but then again that would look funny.
