    DS4 to DB2 Swap questions

@SnowDrift this ad says 1998 but in the pictures you can clearly see throttle and cruise cables. In CT so maybe he'd be willing to ship. Not likely the seller would be ok with pulling the pump too but you'll want a core at some point so you can have a pump properly built...

    Navistar short block

Came across this on the Fakebook, located in NC. For those who don't use Fakebook it's (according to the seller) a Navistar 6.5 short block with a forged crank, balanced rotating assembly and splayed mains. Apparently purchased by the seller at an auction from a defense contractor Asking price...

    one lifter making noise

Maybe I'm missing something, but the list of injector nozzles in the link doesn't have 304 or 311 listed. Thought 304 were stock for the 6.5 and 311 are the marine?

    one lifter making noise

For what it's worth I've been told by an injector guy that Bosch nozzles that went to India are worse than the china ones. Apparently there's nozzles being made in Italy that are the best option at the moment. I think the Italian company is Bosio but can't find any way to source the Italy made...

Best paint for inside steel wheel/ rims?

I didn't know you could get galvanized rims, I'll keep that in mind for my equipment trailer! I put this brush on stuff on my fuel tank, would it being oil base and high gloss make it any better or worse than a rattle can...

Best paint for inside steel wheel/ rims?

I have the same issue on several steel rims- one my front tractor tire, the other steel rims for the pickup. The inside of the rim is rusted enough that the bead won't seat fully so I have perpetual slow leaks. The tractor tire in particular bugs me as it's only 13 years old and is mostly kept...

Ever convert 97-99 K1500 Suburban to the bigger dual front brakes from 2500 series 2000 MY or newer chevy trucks? If so, whats needed to do it?

@ngweidner are you referencing converting the GMT400 front brakes to the GMT800 style? There's a few threads on here if you search GMT800 brake conversion. Several folks on here have done it. All GMT800 trucks had the dual piston calipers. thread here...

    Rebuild about done

Have you verified that the white smoke is unburnt fuel and does not smell sweet like antifreeze indicating a possible coolant leak?

    Looking for some towing advice

I'd also recommend an EGT gauge as when I tow I use that to guide my pedal more than anything else. High EGT will show up way before the coolant temp reads high

    Banks 6.2 Sidewinder Manifold Upgrade

@Twisted Steel Performance something like this? https://www.siliconeintakes.com/dsm-intercooler-piping/exhaust-flex-section-p-863.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIucrG74iWggMVi4fICh2LbgA-EAYYASABEgIZ6PD_BwE I was considering that kind but thought they also had a tendency to fall apart/ disintegrate

    Oil Filter Adapter - O-rings

Thanks for the part numbers. What is different about the AMG o-ring? Any visible differences in the two adapters?

    Sucking Air

Strongly recommend ditching the sock. Yes it provides more surface area so if a leaf or other similar debris got into the tank it could still pull fuel. But not worth the hassle in my opinion. Dropping the tank or pulling the bed is a PITA, toss it when you pull the new sender out of its box...

    Banks 6.2 Sidewinder Manifold Upgrade

The crossover is all tacked up. I really recommend doing this with the engine in the truck. Doing so on a stand it would be really hard to account for all the frame clearances. The mock up engine is in a 1993 K3500 Cheyenne 1 ton dump with a blown engine. The new heart for the vehicle is...

    Banks 6.2 Sidewinder Manifold Upgrade

On the other side, I really wanted to use another Vband connection. The Banks manifold comes with a 2" 3 bolt flange cast into it, so I welded a 2" vband directly to a stainless 3 bolt flange. Getting away from the factory 3 bolt flanges was a goal here as well However, when trying to add in...

    Banks 6.2 Sidewinder Manifold Upgrade

The goal of this upgrade is better exhaust flow, so stepping up to 2" as quickly as possible is the goal. On a whim I had purchased a 45* piece of 1-3/4" pipe, and I'm glad I did as it allowed for a smooth transition around the front diff mount and good orientation towards the passenger side...

    Banks 6.2 Sidewinder Manifold Upgrade

A few more pictures showing the tight clearances On a 4x4 truck clearing the front diff mount has to be accounted for too

    Banks 6.2 Sidewinder Manifold Upgrade

Additionally, even though the manifold is 1 3/4" in diameter on the inside, the flange accepts a 2" vband clamp. So without milling it smaller a 1 3/4" vband wont work. This proved helpful though, as to gain all the clearance I needed I slipped the 1 3/4" elbow into a 2" vband and made something...

    Banks 6.2 Sidewinder Manifold Upgrade

I didn't get any pictures of the milled face, but will add later. Next up was to figure out the power steering. On the 92/95 trucks, the pressure hose from the pump to hydroboost sticks out pretty far behind the pump and points directly at the van manifold There are several workarounds to...

    Banks 6.2 Sidewinder Manifold Upgrade

After sitting on my shelf for 2 years, I finally got around to making this upgrade happen. Sadly the Sidewinder manifold is discontinued and no longer available from Banks, but hopefully this helps the few who already have one or are lucky enough to score a used one. There are several others...

    Hi from florida

Welcome to the forum! Nice looking rig. I really dig the 2 door diesels, not many of them were made. And nearly impossible to find any up here not rusted to pieces. Is this your first 6.5? They can be a reliable engine if taken care of right. They're pretty particular about certain parts and...
