All I got for Christmas was a VGT turbo

OT - do you have any more info or links about this? My V10 has about 50,000mi and I wondered if the vanes needed some sort of maintenance to keep them running smooth. You can PM me to keep this thread on topic if you like. I think the real potential here is to integrate the turbo control...

    Sequential turbos... do-able?

IIRC, in the 80s or so, Ferrari had a system on their F1 cars that injected fuel/spark into the exhaust chamber pre turbo in an attempt to spool the turbo quicker. Here's a link on something called anti-lag.

    GMTDScan Tech any good?

What do people use for OBD-II, like a 99 Sub?

    My 93 project truck-Alpine Green

What did you do about the fan thermostat to get between the cooling fins? Mine is pretty bad and I'd like to treat it with something that keeps ift from getting this bad again.

    My 93 project truck-Alpine Green

I'm inspired by your project. Is Alpine Green the only DD factory color? I've seen silver and blue as well. Again, that may be the rebuilder doing that - I don't know. If silver and blue are factory colors, is it a code that means something? More colors

    Crossover problems, tips?

That's pretty cool. Also, looks like putting your truck on its side makes it easier to work on.

    Oil cooler replacement w/ pics

I started mine up without the top bracket attached and pointed it towards the ground as low as I could get it because I thought a giant air bubble would form at the top of the cooler. Someone else told me stacked plate type coolers do not trap air. Anyone know for sure?

    My 93 project truck-Alpine Green

Again, nice work. I'm in the early phases of planning my suburban restoration project and was thinking of another engine color because black is so boring. After seeing this green has to be my new favorite. Any special prep on the frame? Mine is trashed due to living in the rust belt. I'd...

1993 6.5TD Bad shake at idle

Can a bad TC produce a rumble or vibration at idle? I have another vehicle that rumbles bad at idle and has other TC symptoms. Can bad trans fluid also cause a rumble at idle?

    Oil cooler line time..... Opinion?

I found a good picture by BobbieMartin to show the stock size of the oil cooler (hope he doesn't mind): The H7B will extend all the way to the top and bottom. The top mounting holes on the cooler will more or less match up to the top holes on the supporting bracket that runs across the top. I...

    6.5 grounds

Looks like time for a new mulitmeter. I went throught the process and uncovered some questionable connections. Thanks for pointing them all out because I missed a few.

    Oil cooler line time..... Opinion?

I wen't through the same process. I knew I could come up with a better solution/design for less money but it would require me to run around and chase parts all day. I settled on a kit from Greg about 3 or more years ago. Still no leaks or other oil line related issues. The lines were a pain to...

    My Suburban Renewal Project

Nice looking suburban. I just got mine back on the road after a year of sitting and I'm thinking about fixing it back up a bit. Mechanically, it runs OK. The transmission does clunk a bit when you apply fuel after coasting. Other than that it seems to run well. I need to start tracking...

(08/17/09) Do you support the President's healthcare reform?

The proposed healthcare plan could be the greatest thing since sliced bread (it's not, but for the sake of argument lets say it is), but that doesn't mean we ought to do it. We have a Constitutuon that's supposed to limit the power of the govt, and until someone shows me the healthcare...

    windows 98 SE

What apps do you run with 98? For fun (if it doesn't take 10 hours or so to download with your connection) try a liveCD from Ubuntu or some other linux distro. The OS runs from your CD drive and you can use it to evaluate the program and see how well it runs on your hardware. It doesn't...

    Aisin 09D 6spd Transmission

Prior to this point, the trans shifted like a ratchet - it just clicked throught the gears and it was very smooth. It always seemed to be in the right gear at the right time and I never felt the TCC lock or unlock. It progressively got worse around the 25,000 - 30,000 mile mark. They flashed...

    Aisin 09D 6spd Transmission

I'm looking for a some information on this transmission and wondering if anyone can help me out. I stuck the request here because I thought it was the closest match. First, here is some background info on the transmission in question. Basically, it is the 6spd auto found in the Touareg V10...
