Just coming from someone who has done (i'm just about finished) doing the 6.5 turbo on a obs gm truck, Go with the banks. I could have done this setup for much less, but i wanted the power increase to be as close to banks as possible. With this in mind, i made my crossover pipe out of 2.5 inch...
Simply incredible. Excellent work to all involved.
As for fundraising, I would think that an account dedicated to buying parts to fix the trucks of those in need would be the ticket. Some parts ain't cheap.
Ah the mythical CUCV. I thought we would never see it there for a minute. Congrats and keep us posted on progress. The body lift will help you clear the turbo downpipe if you don't want to run it outside the frame rail. I don't believe it runs better than the cummins though.
I would save yourself the headache of trying to make a db4 work and go with a very capable known unit in the 4911 pump. It should supply sufficient fuel for your needs. If you are running short injectors from a 6.5, then the lines off of the 93 6.5td where you find the 4911 will work on the 6.2...
Yeah, i got a manifold spacer to run on my setup so i could keep the original injectors. There have been 6.2's swapped to serp setups. 89 and on models came with serps iirc.
Well, here is an update. I've taken off the intake and exhaust manifolds to be sand blasted and painted. I finished my downpipe and am pretty happy with the way it turned out except for one thing. My welder was spattering all over the place and i wasn't sure why. At first i just assumed it was...
Its the injectors. I am running a 1/4 inch spacer on my swap too. If you run short injectors then you have to change out to 6.5 injector lines. I paid less than 40 bucks for the spacer so it was just cheaper to do than run short injectors.

Well, the turbo install is underway. I have a couple questions for those of you who have done this already.
First, for you guys that have swapped out to electric fuel pumps, where did you mount your pump?
Second, How did you guys run your crossover pipe? Pics?
Here are some pics:
