Thanks for the help guys. But sadly this project will not occur now since i had an '89 GMC K3500 offered up to me and i needed a running truck so the Dodge and the '69 GMC were traded for that truck. However i may be pulling home the '82 GMC 4x4 that the Red block motor came out of. So truck and...
Most of the 71-72 disk brake trucks i have seen were 5 lug. I know there was a Heavy duty brake option but i think that was 5 lug as well just thicker rotors. What i think im gonna do is order up a big disk brake package from a local shop here that is 5 lug and just convert the rear axle at a...
Its actually due to this brake thing is why i was seriously considering converting the truck to 4wd. On a side note...leroy do your mfsus work on 96+ trucks? been meaning to ask you that since someone on GMT400 is having the problems that you designed that unit to stop.
That is one option, There is even a how to and a parts list on the 67-72 Chevy trucks forum to go about it this way. It requires the replacement of the lower control arms with ones from a 69-87 C20 3/4 ton. and spindles for a C2500LD or 93+ C1500 (same spindle apparently that's why you didn't...
That conversion never happened. I had planned on doing a 4x4 swap but life got in the way for the most part..biggest part of it is fighting some fueling problems on my K1500. Thanks for reminding me i had that in my sig.. i will edit that out.
It is currently 6 lug. If I want to convert to disk brakes up front I will have to convert to 5 lug at the same time or have to mix and match parts to keep it 6 lug.

Ok...since it looks like i will be hanging onto my '69 GMC C10, I need to sort out my options for brakes with this thing. It currently has the Power drum brake set up on it and i am not sure if i can make the Hydraboost booster work in place of the Vac booster. If i was going disk brakes it...
I like the center console you made up for this. What would it take to convince you to make another?

Damn that is a killer set up!....Def gives me some ideas as to how to intercool my truck. I may have to experiment with your design a bit and see if i can use that Air to water set up that was linked to in skylarks thread!
Hmmm def like what you did there..anyone know what size of bolts will be needed to reattach one? I do not have the bolts for the cover either. Granted i dont have the cover yet..need to go see if my buddy does have one like he thinks he does.
Fair enough. I was told it was something having to do with the turbo that the same spot was also used for the mechanical LP. Chances are im more then likely keeping the engine NA for simplicity like i was originally going to do when considering running it in the Chevelle im picking up. But i...
Good info thanks guys!! So basically i could assemble this engine with the 6.5 heads, S code intake and flex plate as well as the turbo manifolds to make it turbo Diesel. and still use the mechanical IP. And from what i understand the turbo pulls its oil feed from the same point on the block as...
Ok I already know that i can safely use the top end from a 6.5 TD on the 6.2 but my question is can i use the flexplate from one on the same 6.2? I have a chance to get ahold of a 4L80E transmission for my project and my 6.5 with a spun bearing has the proper flex plate for it. However i plan on...
Ok I have a lead on a donor rig for my '69 project. I can get ahold of the 4l80E from the same donor truck that provided the engine for my sierra for about $200.
The guy selling me the trans also has a 88-91 era Suburban 4x4 that has a TH700R4 in it and a pass side drop transfer case which...
Hey guys I was wondering if any of you have opted to modify the plastic cover that goes over the intake to allow more air under it but still cover up stuff like the egr? I was considering getting my hands on on to modify a bit to allow more cooling under it but also provide mount points for my...
Wow..nice set up Suburbank2500! I may need to look into doing something similar using a marine intake and some sort of universal IC core with a cowl hood on my truck. Though the way you did things is also quite adaptable to that Air to Liquid intercooler set up that was mentioned in here earlier.
Cool! Yea..after this fueling mess...Im all about having backups when possible lol. If i can i might see if i can get a fitting that will fit my FFM to put one of the Ts directly on it and one closer to the IP. But i guess time will tell lol
Lol!
Ok quick question. Will it hurt anything to have two Ts inline between the FFM and the IP? Just asking since i plan on installing an under hood Fuel pressure gauge tomorrow. But i do plan on adding an electronic in cab one later on. However i want to keep the under hood mechanical one installed...
Cool
I know it seems like me and my buddy are doing a TON of work on this to solve the problem but instead of getting pissed at the truck like i would have on other vehicles that have given me this much grief. Im actually welcoming this...well the challenge of it anyway..Im learning more and...
Not yet..i will be picking it up tomorrow. As for the sending unit its being fitted to im using original GM parts there. Unless either the donor truck or my truck have been fitted with aftermarket units along the way.
