Cool looking truck, sounds good too from what you can hear. Never really understood why people make a video of riding in a semi, or engine sounds, or whatever...... and then dub a song over it so you can barely hear the reason they made the video in the first F-ing place.

Lol.... None of them could be described as "quiet"...... On another note, can anyone name the movie this came from........."Bulldog Mack with a can on back" or "That big black Mack stopped dead in her tracks"

53 series are louder in general than the 71, 92, even 149 series are. A lot of the "extra" noise from a 53 comes from the blower. Turbo's do quiet the engine down too of course, but a Turbo 53 series compared to a turbo 71 or 92 series....the 53 will be louder. The reason is the shape of...

    Pressure in the cooling system

So this leak or disappearing coolant was the last/only problem you had with the cooling system right?
  8. Chief915

    Pressure in the cooling system

Awesome, I am glad it was an easy/cheap fix.

I had one too..... it was in a 1983 GMC 6000 dump truck which grossed around 24,000-26,000 lbs most of the time. It ran ok, never had any major problems out of it, but it didn't really run good enough that you wanted to go into the local diner and brag about it at lunch time. It didn't overheat...

    Pressure in the cooling system

You know... it just dawned on me.... LFH may be "Little F-ing Hammer" It seems so obvious now......

    Pressure in the cooling system

Nope, LFH is a new one to me, I wanted to clarify to make sure. I/we always have heard it called a BFH too.

    I just don't get it.

imadtchmn Where are you in GA? I may be able to help out if you aren't too far away.

Nothing against your friend, but in my opinion, he is steering you in the wrong direction. The 8.2L was designed specifically to get better fuel economy in a medium duty chassis and was made from approximately 1980-1987. The 8.2-liter "Fuel Pincher" was the first four-cycle engine that...

    Bad PMD extension Cable

There's a special tool for getting the pins out. Not sure if the chain parts stores would have one of those or not, I kinda doubt it really. Radio shack may be another place that might have the pin removal tool. The pin has a metal tang on the side that sticks out and locks into the plastic...

    Which year cummins engine ???

True....... This IS NOT a "53" block. The 53's were used from late 98-01. The block in this truck should be good to go, at least as far as it isn't a 53, so no "factory casting problems" on this block. The "53" comes from a casting number on the side of the block and is used to identify the...

    Which year cummins engine ???

Take a look at the pic I attatched...... The red circle is the engine ID tag, looks like it's covered with goo, but it's there on the side of the gear case. The white circle is the injection pump, and this one IS the desirable Bosch P7100 pump. The P7100 was an inline pump, in other words...

Pics of the new A-Team silicone hose setup.

So I guess that means you got it all back together now. How does it run with the ATT? Do you like it better than the GM turbo?

    Hard starting truck! help me

Yes, unhook the wire first. Good glow plugs will read low resistance, 0.8 to about 2.0 ohms. Any that are over that reading should be replaced.

    Hard starting truck! help me

My bet goes on the glow plug system...... You can check them with a multimeter...... check the resistance (ohms) from the terminal on the glow plug to a good ground.
