Job for the day lift the box off the truck. I had my helper with me so we got box loose and lifted. Tomorrow will be brake line replacement bleed and bolt everything back up. I taught my helper the rule of " the one" that is the one bolt that never comes out. Also the nut extractor and what it's...
Great site it looks like there should be a union right about 3/4 of the way back at the tank. Naturally the only access is to drop the fuel tank or take off the box which I had planned on doing. The box will get lifted tomorrow an we will see what is in there.
Probably a good idea to do the...
Update I went by with a friend who wants a 6.5 we got the engine to crank but you could see the blowby out the oil tube. Interior was not as mint as I thought still offered him 500 for it but he wasn't taking it. The pics looked way better than the actual truck up close there was rust around the...
Some info I have gathered.
I just did this job on my 95 . if you look closely immediately behind the tank in the frame there may be a union there. Get the plastic clips loose, think a 12 socket . and you can work with it.
Mine was rusted behind the tank so I ended up taking the tank out. I had...
Ok
I found the leak in my brake line finally it is right where the cab meets the box on the drivers side.
I have done some line repair before I have a double flare tool what is the best way to get this out and replaced. What parts am I going to need. Anyone have a brake line diagram for...
Going to have a look at it now it is a 660 block apparently already magna fluxed and checked for cracks it is supposed to come with the rebuild kit as well might be a good buy.
Yep from what I understand the block is essentially the same and it will mate right up to the 4l80e. You can fit in place of a 6.5 I am just wondering if it will work with the ECM for OBD 1.
There might be some modifications to make it work with 6.5 TD Serpentine belt setup.
Thinking of building it for my truck I would have the time to collect parts. I like the banks sidewinder kit for these engines. Just need more info on the swap for compatibility it is my understanding they are basically the same engine.
Just looking on the classifieds. See a 6.2 for sale it's ripped down says it has a lot of new parts to go with it. The guy is asking 600.
Seems kind of expensive might just go and take a look to see what block it is.
Anyone with rebuild experience on these engines maybe have a list of...
DVOM is a digital volt meter an analogue one should work as well I have a couple of different meters in the garage. It is amazing what you can buy from used sites nowadays. BPMV is behind your master cylinder it requires a special tool to engage it when bleeding the brake system.
Here is the...
I had an ABS fault last Dec threw a bunch of codes I ended pretty much changing everything. Once I started getting into it that far it just made sense. Rock Auto sells the sensors they aren't exactly easy to change depending on the amount of corrosion on your front end.
I used a cheap OBD 1...
5mpg would put me in the 22mpg range that would be amazing for a 3/4 ton from the 90's. That would definitely justify the cost of the ATT. I already have the injectors just need to gather all my parts so I can tear it all down at once. I will do the head gaskets while I am in there. That being...
I drove the truck w/o towing just usual DD type mostly. This tank I averaged 17.2 Mpg pretty good overall I think. It will be interesting to see what an ATT, and new injectors might do for the truck.
Yes I think it would be but so far he has not taken the offer so now I wait for a counter. The problem is if someone goes higher price. I don't really need the truck so I went with a low offer.
Yes it is a lot of kilometers 300 = 179 miles so I offered him 8000.00 he said he would consider it but never came back with a counter offer we will wait and see. If he calls back the offer goes to 7500.00.
Well final update on the towing I covered 541 Km on a 100L of diesel that is mixed towing and driving. It worked out to 13.85 mpg and that is mostly highway. I usually don't exceed 52 Mph when towing 65 Mph when driving highway without my trailer. Now to see what a 100 L gets me with the econo...
Why not spend the cash and put in an optimizer or better yet a P400 probably costs about the same and all you really need to do the P400 is modify the oil pan.
