    About 12v oilpan heater?

Kennedy Diesel sells pan heaters. I bought one a little while back with the intention on splicing it into the block heater wiring, but ended up using it for another project (heating muriatic acid to run it through my boat engine to descale it), so it never got installed on the truck. I need to...

    Air Box Relocation

Years ago when I saw that Banks setup, the first thing that I thought of (I work part time in the marine industry) is a blower/collector box. I've never gone any further with this idea, but it seems to me that it would be a very inexpensive route to go if one wanted a true CAI by locating this...

    Is This Normal? Intake Removed.......

For what it's worth, in regards to the Dexcool, that's all that has ever been used in my engine and it's doing well. Although, I do make sure to replace the fluid every 3 to 5 years.

    Oil Change Interval

Using Rotella T6 0-40 (maybe it's 5-40) synthetic, I ran about 8,000 miles. I then got an analysis and they said they didn't like some of the numbers, but since the new engine still may be breaking in, that could explain it. They said to check back in 4,000 miles. I did and they said things...

    Drain T valve repair

I haven't had mine apart (still closing well by hand), but it does feel like a tapered seat-type seal.

    Opinions on new parklight styles

It probably took me about an hour and half to do the two lights (maybe a little less). I tried some "home remedies", as well, but it wasn't until I used the 3M kit that it made a noticeable difference. It took some effort, but they did come out very nice. Oh well, can't blame anyone for...

    Opinions on new parklight styles

For what it's worth, I was all set to replace my lights (VERY BADLY crazed/yellowed) about a year or two ago. I decided to give that 3M Lens Restorer kit a try. I'm glad I did - I was VERY impressed with the results. The lenses look like new. Granted, they don't have the same "look" as the...

Help: Poor heat in 99 Suburban

Cool. Thank you. I'll read through that thread.

Help: Poor heat in 99 Suburban

Thanks, Johnny. But truth be told, I'm not sure I actually "worked" on it for a long time... I think I did more complaining and thinking than anything else! :rolleyes5: Good luck with your alternators. Just out of curiosity, why not just one big (stronger) alternator? Anyways, here's the...

    Suburban Rear Heat Not Working

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE I finally got things taken care of and the heat now WORKS! What prompted me to get going on this was that the front heat was now getting flaky. I checked the various servos and they were fine. It turned out that when my new water pump was installed, they got a little...

Help: Poor heat in 99 Suburban

Johnny - I just got mine working. I did a flow test into a clear container and found I had horrible flow. I took the QD fitting off and there was a bunch of strands of dried RTV collected in the restrictor. Took it out and now BOTH my front and rear heat work nicely.

    GM8 vs Various Turbos

    About 2650 at 66mph.

    GM8 vs Various Turbos

Hi Tim. Yes, I am doing everything in 3rd gear. I've been doing it this way for years - I think, IIRC, this was originally a recommendation that Bill Heath gave to me. Since I'm flat out all the way, it may be a moot point, since it wouldn't upshift into 4th anyways. I haven't grabbed the...

    Johnny - any luck?

    GM8 vs Various Turbos

True - about the trailer tires. Although, I usually travel at a consistent 70 mph (when possible) and always make it a point to feel the tires/hubs whenever I pull over. So far, so good. However, for 1-minute time period, even going 90MPH isn't going to cause any damage as they won't heat up...

    GM8 vs Various Turbos

Thanks, Jim, for clearing up my table it up and making it easier to read!!!

    GM8 vs Various Turbos

So, for a while now I've been tracking some numbers with various turbos. Although there's a couple other "tests" I've done, the main one I've been concerned with is a hill "climb", so to say. Let me start by describing my method. I've tried to keep things as much "apples to apples" and...

Help: Poor heat in 99 Suburban

Johnny, I picked the 195* stats based on Kennedy's recommendation on his website. The ones he sells (and what I have) are the Robert Shaw. I tow about a 10,000 boat in the hot summer and am just fine with temps (I do have an 18:1, so I'm sure that helps, though). When my engine was stock...

Help: Poor heat in 99 Suburban

Bobbie, while trying to figure out my rear heat problem (which I still am, but won't go into detail as I don't want to hijack Johnny's thread), I came across some interesting material in regards to the restrictors. I'll pass this along, as it may help Johnny and I would also be interested to...

Help: Poor heat in 99 Suburban

Johnny, just an FYI... On the way in to work today, I listened as I pressed the "recirc" button. I could noticeably hear the sound of the air coming from the vents (I had it on high) change. It took about 5 seconds to completely change, but I could easily hear it. I'm assuming this is from...
