I would get with the person you purchased from to see if they can help you get a new one and also double check that your pitman arm doesn't have too much slop in it. The braces are just that a brace, if you have a sloppy pitman and idler you can have one crack. I also see them crack on 8"...
You loose steering, at full lock to lock the tires will not be in line together....toe out.
The bend in the OEM center link is there to keep the tires facing the same direction while cycling the steering left to right.
Sorry to hear you had this problem. I will have to see what I can do about making the instructions better so it's not over looked. But it does sound like you found the issue and looks like its all good now. Let me know if not.
Also take a look at the steering box sector shaft to see how much slop or extra movement is in that at full lock. I have 2 other guys (both on here) that had the same issue with the pitman arms but we have not been able to figure out the relationship of why it happened. I did find on another...
