Yea, I wouldn't mess with the '30 series Deere tractors. Our 7930 has been at the dealer too much already, and its there right now (it's NOT chipped). Buy a bigger tractor next time.
We have about 6in of light, fluffy snow on the ground here in North Central Indiana. I have not been on our Miami Trail (the best and longest of them all), but it is open!!: http://www.isatrailconditions.info/
Just got back from the U.P. Wed night.. Trails were great from Paradise to Big Bay and anywhere in between. Put 660 mi on my '08 Nytro in three days plus one morning. We saw no more than ten sleds each day and were still breaking fresh trails at noon. Almost every single mile of trail was glass...
We have a pair of fourtrax 300's that have gone at least that far and are still going! Just replaced some front end parts on the one, but nothing but oil changes and simple maintenance on them otherwise!
We got to Munising too.. stay at the Buckhorn.
At the end of last winter (like feb '07) I got an '08 Fx Nytro. It was a 'closeout' of sort. About $1,800 off since dealer rode it 300 miles in the UP. Still looks like brand new w/ 1,300 miles on it at the moment. Great power, nice ride, just...
I see you're pretty far down there. Anywhere in Michigan will be a long trip for you!
Here's the few Northern Indiana trails. They're good, especially the Miami, which starts just to the north of me in Millersburg.
They're not open a lot, just when we have enough snow.
Here's my first youtube video. Just finished (ok it needs a little more editing) it last night. It's a time lapse from march to this december of the sweetcorn patch and (much later planted) seed corn around it.

Here's the address if you want to watch...
Thanks! That is great information! I think I will be going with a shock upgrade of some sort. Probably the 5100's (and 265's as long as they don't look stupid)
Now all I have to do is get dad to find a new truck!:hurray:
we're looking for an open station (no cab), but i'll bookmark that website for sure! That's good to hear that yours made it over 13,000 hours without being touched, you must take good care of your equipment.
Cabs are nice and all, but not when you're looking to save weight for planting delayed...
I'm looking to put this Cognito 2-3 on our '02 2500HD EC LB, which the front end has sagged. It was hitting the stops, so we cranked it (just a little bit). Will I still be able to fit 285's on stock rims without going overboard on cranking?
We had about 3in of powder that blew all around last wknd in northern IN. Needless to say, the grass lot across the road is a little torn up right now. I put 1,000 mi on my (new last year) Nytro and hope to do at least that this winter!
I'm looking to restore a Deere 4430 that looks pretty dang rough. Anything in particular I should look for? I know there was same engine longevity problems in the 30 series.
