My front sway bar on the Suburban was cracked on the ends... It is just a crimped tube of steel where they go into the end links. Anyway after years of rust and bouncing, I guess they gave up the ghost... When, who knows.
This weekend I put in a new "upgraded" Addco swaybar. Solid bar 1...
... A good buffing kit can do miracles! Not the el cheapo stuff you find at the auto supply stores though.
You need a real buff with the right clay... Plus a good buffing machine. The clay and buff cheap, buffing machine not so cheap.
Just my $.02 from having disgusting headlights at one...
Big T, I did some research on that and as far as I could tell NHSA(?) is deliberating the topic, but it is not "official" yet.
The GMC dealer did inform me that if/when the recall comes about I will be reimbursed the cost of the repair. Which is a good thing.
If the status has changed from...
Get the real deal socket for the injectors. The wrench head pays for itself on a couple of the rear most injectors where the socket wrench will not fit.
As for the glows I use a normal 10 or 11mm deep socket, no problem.
good luck in the process!
If it is a road vehicle you need the ABS controller for the proportioning valve inside it. Just pull the fuse and rock it that way. After much research of doing the same thing I decided against it just because of potential brake F/R bias issues.
The front brake lines could very well be rusted...
I use the Warpspeed crossover and Jardaine 3-4" exhaust system.
So far no rust issues after a few years, but I keep them clean and try not to run in salt. Normal galvanized steel stuff, no SS.
Oh and a 5" chrome tip, which is a necessity. Bling!
For the money the x-over and exhaust is...
I just wanted to start a warm and fuzzy thread for the 6.5s :)
I started a new job which requires a lot of travel on the road car/airplane. So far mostly car time and the Suburban has done a great job!
Just this morning I drove up to PA which takes about 3 hours and it was just smooth...
once I get paid on the 15th I will be buying/supporting some Walking J product to fund the rebuild :)
The PO of my 99 Burb replaced the motor at like 20K... Warranty work, so who knows what happened. Other than that the 96 and 99 run like tops with about 180K on each.
