The full length running boards are coming off and going on the blue Burb. I don't like them at all. I'm gonna need to make some nerf bars that bolt to the frame. It's quite a step in for me and I'm 6' tall. My kids will NEVER be able to climb in. LOL Also, I want to hide the frame...
The blue truck is my '99 gas 'burb. I fell in love with this black truck as soon as I saw it was a 5 speed. It only has 175,000 KM on it and I am friends with it's only owner. It was repainted in '97 after an accident, colour change from white to black at that time. It has the weirdest...
Well, here it is. It's a '95 and now has a 3" body lift and I put a set of 36X14.5 Ground Hawgs on the passenger's side just to see how it would look. They *almost* fit. With some trimming and cranking they would fit no problem. I'll end up running 33X12.5's when I'm done. The 5 speed is out...
I agree. I would never have pulled the heads off just to port/polish them, I was thinking more along the lines of during a major rebuild or something along those lines. The way I figure things, it can't hurt. :)

Most people say that it isn't needed because A) they are dry flow heads and B) boos takes care of imperfections. My belief is that porting/polishing will help by lowering boost levels and still allowing more air to pass. Boost is a measurement of restriction, right? Cleaner air path equals...
So, a friend calls me up and says his '99 6.5 won't stay running. I go over and sure enough, it fires and dies right away. We pop the hood and I start to look around. I grab the fuel shutoff solinoid to feel if it is moving with the key. It is, but it feels like it's very loose. We take off...
:)
Found the problem. The bulk head connector at the firewall! I took it apart and found that the male pin for that wire was pushed way in so it wasn't making contact. Now I think I have some ground issues. My glows work properly now, but the light doesn't come on. Also, I have been...
Ok, I know where the one at the fire wall is, it's right by the slave cylinder, how about the other one you speak of? Is that the one on the column under the dash? I imagine I should take these apart and clean them with contact cleaner or something similar...
$450.00 for the complete...
Ok, so I was bored and decided to look at the switch. I followed some guidlines I found using search and was able to remove the key cylinder. No problem. :) So, I played around with it for a while and then decided to test the wires coming out of it. Acording to my diagrams, the pink wire is...
HOLY CRAP!!! I just called NAPA and found out that there isn't the little box on the column that I thought there was and that the wires all go to the actual switch. Price? $300.00!!! This sucks. :(
Bill
Ahhhh, I misunderstood at first, I thought it was the key cylinder you were refering to. You are actually talking about the part further down the column that the rod runs to, correct?
I remembered reading about ign. problems with these trucks, but never paid much attention to what was going...
Really? Ok, is the ign switch diesel specific? How about year specific? I can probably get one from the P/O as he owns an automotive recycling center...
Now, to start working on the power windows... LOL
Thanks,
Bill
Even now, the wait to start light doesn't come on. The glows cycle, but no light. :( This truck was converted to gas at one point and then back to diesel, so there are some odd electrical things going on. Also, he was in the process of adding power windows and door locks. I have to figure...
Ok, It seems the IGN E, ECM 1 and ENG 1 fuses are not powering up with the key and what the p/o did was backfeed the system with the jumper system. Looks like there is one wire, pink, from the ignition that feeds these 3 things. I can't see if it comes from the key to the fuse block or if...
I finally bought the Burb I have wanted for many years!
It was owned by a friend of mine and has been put through a lot, but it runs and drives really good. The problem with it is the interior and some electrical issues. The interior is in pieces. He has been collecting the parts to...
