My 98 has the variable ratio steering (or Electronic Variable Orifice) but after having lots of trouble with the valve on the back of the pump, I deleted it and run the pump in high assist mode at all times. This makes the steering a little touchy at high speeds, but definitely makes the truck...
I was gonna post the same thing, but thankfully read ahead :D
From what i've gathered on other forums, The 6-lug 2500 trucks could be had with almost everything but the 7.4L, which i was lead to believe received the heavier components and GVWR. The 6-lug will probably have a 7200# GVWR and...
Rotella T6 is factory recommended in the newer Audi DI turbo engines. So you know it's good stuff.
I've used Rotella conventional oil in all my engines. Including my 97 Civic and it's 1.6L 4-cyl. It sounded a lot better at high RPM's than with any other oil and it actually started to clean up...
I said screw it to all the ricer punks and bought 4 black "projector" headlights for my truck. Ordered them with 2 sets of bulbs, ballasts, harnesses, relays.
Luckily i ordered the HID's with it, because the light output is adequate with the all black housing, but much better than stock sealed...
Running the cold advance on fully is great until it warms up. I have my fast idle and cold advance solenoids hooked up to switches in my 83 (same basic engine) and the cold advance usually gets turned off once up to operating temperature.
It sounds really metallic and runs slightly hotter when...
Thanks for the reply, I gotta wait until the brutal arctic winter is over to start doing anything with this thing now...but thanks for the information, as I will use to make a few purchases in the future.
The bad intake gaskets were a problem even in the Vortec 4.3, 5.0, 5.7 engines as well. I had an intake gasket leak and the subsequent mess it caused when mixed with the coolant was a mess. It inevitably clogged up most all of my cooling components.
The long life coolant is not maintenance...
Awesome! The inaccuracy of my gauge gas gotten me into trouble, it needs replacing anyway....but this would be amazing. How much does it cost for one made with custom length?
i dont expect an immediate response (low on cash) but i was wondering if these would be adaptable to older tank setups, like the 31 gallon tank in my 83 k5?
If not im gonna stick with what i got :D
To change output shafts, you basically need to dismantle the entire transmission...which isn't hard to do if it's already out of the car. The output shaft is one of the last things to come out of it. Otherwise, it should all fit even all the back to the late 60's, when they were first put into...
My old coworker said told me that if i ever wanted to swap in a 2 stroke destroit into a truck, let him know and he would set it up right for me. He has done extensive work on them in his many years and he told me any one of them would make a damn fine engine.
A 4-53T still does sound like a...
My K5 w/700R4/3.42s and 35s got a measured 16MPG (US gallons, i never use the metric gallons)
Which is what my parents 09 Sierra gets according to the DIC. This is an ECSB with aluminum 5.3L w/AFM so i was expecting better.
I found going from worn out 31s to 35" KM2s wasnt nearly as bad as i expected, especially with 3.42 gears. Im sure id see some issues when towing, right when i need that torque multiplication. The 4.56s and 35s should be about perfect for each other. Right at the balance of torque multiplication...
I hear the bore on the 5.7L Vortecs TB was a little larger and is considered an upgrade over the stock TB.
This is only what i heard, i could never find enough CSFI trucks to yank TBs off of to verify amd swap into my old 98.
All the more reason to cut up the wiring and streamline it, run relays and get rid of the unnecessary crap.
Great job on the headlights 88! Theres nothing like properly engineered headlights for getting optimal lit output.
It'll take lots of elbow grease but doing it with a wire wheel and wire brushes is the simplest and cheapest way.
I used to have to do this a lot working at Canadian Tire in Newfoundland (Rust with a capital R) because the rust would be so bad that the bead wouldn't seat. Copious amounts of...
