    Anyone runnin' CB's?

just installed a Shelf it Kit in my truck. Regardless of their claim of "Guaranteed to fit your truck" it took 3 hours and major modification to install it. Had to cut 6" of the end of it!!! Anyhow, I installed my CB today. Got the power wire ran and plugged in and the antenna wire ran back...

    Volvo D16

Has any body ever wrenched on one of these? I helped a friend change out his intake manifold gasket. There were 4 bolts sheered on in the head; they were really easy to tap out. The Volvo dealer claimed this was a common occurrence on many engines. Has anyone heard of this? We are not sure...

    Resetting injector pop pressure

I advanced the timing a little and got a little rattly kakcle but not too much...not going to kill my engine is it? I talked to the supplier that I got my new injectors from a year ago and was told they are pop tested at 1700 psi (marine injectors!!!) I am thinking I got dooped, wish I would...

coolant leak, passenger rear of engine compartment, 96 Suburban

My wife's suburban (gasser) had a bad antifreeze leak on that side. I thought the same thing that it was either water pump or head gasket. Come to find out there are two 3way valves for the rear heat on that side down low. They are made of cheap plastic that breaks down due to the...

    Excessive Smoke after extended Idle???

Wow. I have never seen this truck start and level out this fast since I have owned it. It used to sputtered a little and smoke a whole lot on start up. I just figured the pump was turned up and that it was causing excessive fueling. I wish I would have known sooner I would have adjusted the...

    Excessive Smoke after extended Idle???

Did some work under hood today. The timing marks on the pump didn't line up. So I loosened the pump and rotated slightly toward drivers side. Took off intake plenum and cleaned inspected it. There was a little oil residue so I cleaned it all out including the turbo. When I started it up, it...

    Excessive Smoke after extended Idle???

buddy, you are right. He didn't look at the truck but was able to tell exactly what it was doing. He said that the plunger in the Pump is wore out from extended use. He would charge around $300 - $500 to rebuild, but I would take off and take it to him. I can't justify paying another to do...

    Excessive Smoke after extended Idle???

Well... spoke to a Stanadyne shop, and good news its not the injectors or the turbo. Bad news is it is the IP and timing chain. He says that the plunger is shot in the pump and that it is running on retarded time. He advised a rebuild and a new timing chain to be installed. He said I could...

    Excessive Smoke after extended Idle???

If injectors are dribbling what damage would it cause on the motor? I am sorta cranked about the injectors since I just bought them a year ago.

    Excessive Smoke after extended Idle???

The engine runs awesome, no weird noises or feel of lost power. I think I will try to get the injectors checked, although near brand new. Does anyone know of any good and reputable diesel shops in the KC Missouri and surrounding areas????

    Excessive Smoke after extended Idle???

Yes, There is a smoke that comes up there if the cap is removed. I cleaned that CDR a couple of months ago, I am guessing better to just replace?

    Excessive Smoke after extended Idle???

The engine doesn't hardly use any oil, less than a quart between changes. The injectors were replaced last April, so I am ruling them out. The injection pump can be suspect, timing??? don't know how to check that outside tearing down the motor- if do that might as well rebuild it all and I am...

    Excessive Smoke after extended Idle???

It has 174500 miles. I was wondering if it was bad turbo seals?

    Excessive Smoke after extended Idle???

If my truck is warm and I sit at idle for an extended time (5 min or more) when I take off there is a large cloud of blueish smoke. After driving for a short while (3 min or so) it clears right up and doesn't do it again until long idle. If I am driving and stop at a red light for a short...
