    Custom turbo install

Actually Matt I think I might have the same ground to frame clearance as your rig. The wheels are 32.5" diameter and I have 1"-1.5" between the top of the tire and the bottom of the fender lips. The wheels are mounted with a set of solid steel machined adapters. 8 lug to 10 lug hub centric...

    Custom turbo install

Thanks Slim, I made it so if the GM-8 had to be put on this whole setup unbolts and the original bolts right back. After the IC is where I have been taking my readings on the IAT's.... I don't think the IAT's could be that low of a temp right out of the turbo. I am running factory 4.10 gears. I...

    Custom turbo install

OK, Today I drive in normal daily conditions. I have full boost by 1900-2100 RPMs (needle moves really fast during accel ) EGT's never went over 575. I didn't hook up to the trailer, but I know I will tomorrow. Merging on to the interstate I didn't have to WOT to get her to lite. Definetly can...

    Custom turbo install

Let me be clear about the intentions of my setup. I am not in any way advertising or plan to sell or market any turbo. I wanted to have a better turbo than the GM-8 without losing low end and have plenty of pulling power. I have many years tuning performance gassers and this is my personal truck...

    Custom turbo install

It depends on how you want it. New they are about $1400 but that is for a ball bearing unit. A journal bearing turbo with these specs are about $850. These are Garrett units.

And you would have to run a wastegate.

This would also make the power without any black cloud from the tail pipe too. It would perform simular to stock except when you got your foot in it. And you definetly would need one of your crazy IP's for this unit.

    Custom turbo install

No much larger. I suggested it because using the T03 .78 turbine section it would be slightly smaller than a HX35 on the turbine section, allowing for faster spool and still have decent low end. But the T04 compressor is much larger than the HX 40 compressor section, which would give you plenty...

    Custom turbo install

It is a Garrett T04/T03 hybrid. You can make up any size turbo using Garrett components. If you go bigger like a TD 07 it will pull mid to upper RPM's real nice but will suffer low end enormously. I tried a Garrett built to the TD 07 specs and it did what everyone said it would but it killed low...

    Custom turbo install

I will try to data log this week and see where the exact spool number is. For a basic comparision it spools in between a GM-8 and a HX-35.

    Custom turbo install

So far it has shown good characteristics like the GM-8 but with my foot in it the truck pulls to redline. I am interested to see the data on IAT's and how she tows this week.

    Custom turbo install

Well... I finally found some time to install my latest turbo. I still need to fabricate a better air filter location. I am thinking of plumbing the filter inlet to behind the front bumper by the intake inlets. This turbo is a little smaller on the turbine than a HX turbo and the compressor is a...

    Crumbling Dash!

That dash isn't that bad! I have fixed worst than that! I'd sand the cracks to lower the raised crack lines and lay a single layer or 3/4 oz mat. Once it sets it would be sturdy enough to remove without further damage. After that flip it over once out and rough the back side with 40 grit and...

    Crumbling Dash!

I have taken fiberglass cloth and layed it over the dash and do a lay up with polyester resin. My 99 has had the same problem and I have added a patch using 1 minute epoxy resign with a piece of 3/4 oz cloth. I also bought carbon fiber cloth and when I take the whole dash out to replace the...

    Modified 6.2 turbo diesel

I use to work for some IMSA teams back in the 80's and then a little for AJ Foyt and when IMSA split I opened my own shop and built and maintain race cars from road racing to drag racing. I had quite a extensive history building turbo gas race cars. I don't do it for a living anymore but I still...
