Welcome @mr.clopek One thing to watch out for... what is your climate like were you drive? if it snows often in the winter then you might want to keep the factory FFM or get something that has a built in fuel heater. the FFM has an element that keeps fuel from gelling. you only need it...
Yeah, that 03 burb my friend has in my yard had a real bad leak where water would be standing in the floor board after a rain. after we had gotten it running, he drove it for a bit and kept hearing a lot of wind noise. brought it to me talking about wanting to replace all the door seals and...
If he used a diesel compression tester on it and only got 180! that's in poor poor shape! you should see on a perfect engine 400 psi. my 93 with perfuse blow by has an average of 250 psi across the cylinders. still runs but low on power and uses oil.
I would get it up on an engine stand...
I can't recall if the 4.8l is the same platform as the 5.3 and 6.0 with the oil pump behind the timing cover being driven by the crank. if that is the case, do your self a favor and replace the pump, mainly the o-ring that connects the pump to the pick up tube. that one still has some time...
First question I would have is does it have the factory stereo or an aftermarket. also if it has an alarm system. that would be the clue. other than that I would do the basic test with the test light in between the battery post and the cable while pulling fuses one by one to narrow down which...
Welcome @ozark iirc the date code for the GM ones is like the one you posted in the 4th pic
This one...
Btw, when you are attaching photos, after you select them there is an option to use full image. use that to post them big like this one. it helps us folks like me who is blind in one...
Welcome to the forum @XxTinmanxX
Same answer from me too! NOPE! there are parts in your 91 trans that are NLA even for shops that rebuild them. things like the reluctor ring. don't let that scare you though, 99% of the time all of the NLA parts are reused during the rebuild process...
something I just though about on the coils... do a resistance test on them when hot. not sure what the spec is, but if you get you an old connector and cut the clip off, leave some wire length on it to use on your meter. test the resistance between and as well as to ground on each. if you...
iirc the nickle base stuff is resistant to 1000+ degrees. at work thy use some stuff like that rated to take up to 2000+ degrees. for in the head I would go that route. copper should be good too as long as it can tolerate up to 300 degrees since it's in that environment.
I know it might not be feesable to do remote mount coils on these engines but I have never liked the coils mounted over the plug holes or on the engine (heat). a fella can't really go old-school trying to find a miss! those short plug wires the last time I had to replace some, they came...
I can dig up which wires are which on the OPS and where you need to connect to. everyone is correct for a proper way, building a harness that is plug n play is the way to go and not cut and splice into the factory harness. the one connector that might be hard to find a female of is the OPS...
Nice photo!
donno if its allowed over on reddit, but I would say if some of those folks wanna join up here in the forums for help or just to join in on the fun. most of us don't really do much in social media. I am a member there on reddit but mainly to get help with my 3d printers. there...
depending on the age and mileage on the GP's and injectors, I would also try to rule them out but also plan to replace very soon.
GP's use only AC Delco. the OEM was the 9g's but we all are recommending to use the 60g's due to them not expanding in the head causing a massive "oh shit" moment...
Injectors could be the issue, but I doubt that would just suddenly appear, that would be a slow over time get worse situation. I would start off by checking fuel pressure at the IP inlet post filter. easiest and most simplest way would be to pick up a tester from the local harbor freight...
try out that app on your phone called Fuelly. it's easy to keep track and get a average over several fuel-ups. also keeps track of receipts and money spent.
biggest things that change mileage are wind direction along with going up hill and down hill plus elevations. if you want to get...
I know it's a dumb question, but are your brake lights still working after the install? when I replaced mine, I somehow ruined my brake light switch and had to go through that horror again to replace it!
the longer time cranking, is it a consistent crank not trying to fire off until it just starts up or is it trying to fire up?
I assume batteries are hot and it's still cranking like when you installed the PM starter. is there a service engine light on after it is running or any smoke or...
