Lack of coolant maintenance and design?? I always thought it was improperly designed thermostat and low idle speed over heating coolant in the heads, then when you got out and went, cooler coolant rushed through them and they warped.
I have 2 straight decks, 1 drop deck, and a van, also pickup and 32 foot flatbed, with flatbed, and straight decks need a dock or ramp, with drop deck load on site. PM me with requests.
got a 91 gmc, square, 3500 drw with a tonawanda 502, under 20k and over 60 mph it cant keep up with the diesels, but under 60 mph, and over 20k, it will eat them, low gears, 2 mpg, and a heavy foot make that bi*ch roll.
I got one for ya, its really beat to shit, ranch managers rig, come to think of it, I don't think I could sell it, too much guilt involved. Hit your local auto auction, they are cheap as shit now with fuel getting so damn high.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!! Use power systems of some other comparable, additive. #1 should be good to -25, I've started with straight #1 in -35 with no additive, not with a 6.5 though, the guys around here use battery, fuel, oil, and coolant heaters. Might look into it if its cold enough.
I hit the tooth fairy on the head and buried him in the woods, he was breathing heavily leaning over my kid, what would you do?
I didn't mean to bash anyone, I have dealt with 6.5's for a long while, still do. We run 3500 head of cows in montana, have 10 ranch trucks and 3 of them are...
My name is Sam Fraser, I am from Bozeman Montana. I have quite a few flavors of diesel trucks, and came here to get away from all of the crap on other forums, I am not a newbie, I have wrecked a lot of stuff and paid for it, I have a ton of good advice and knowledge. I also am full of hot air...
hmmmm, like i said i didn't read the previous posts, I am no stranger to sarcasm, matter of fact i welcome it. By the way, the easter bunny was real, I ate him.
Being that I ranch, and own a small fleet of diesels, i own 3 6.0L's, 5 DMAX's, 4 Cummins. I have had good luck with my 6.0's except for the chalk in my overflow, and one with an egr/oil cooler failure. Other than that SCT fords have been pretty good for me.
I didn't read previous posts, but did someone mention the horrid design of the 6.5's water jacket? How about the bottleneck at the thermostat? Or the small capacity water pump, or the fact that the passenger side exhaust travels less distance, and has less back-pressure than the drivers side...
GM has a nasty reputation for crappy clusters, i've replaced them in my 02, 03 05, and 07. Its the cluster, don't waste your time trying to find an electrical gremlin. Just my $.02.
