Winter seems to have finally started here for us. The high temperatures have been anywhere from 34 down to today's high temp of 23. During the winter I put my canopy on the truck for that extra bit of dry storage. When the high temp for the day don't go above 40, I put on the Winter Front cover...
I know that there is a few options for installing the overhead console in the 88-98 trucks. Ill ping Dave (88gmctruck), he knows a lot about the overhead consoles. He helped me put the long console in my truck. He added overhead consoles in his 88 GMC and his 02 GMC (both reg cab as well)
Ill second the Terra Grapplers... I I bought mine from a friend of Dave's (88gmctruck) and mine with 30-35K on them. His truck was a half ton Silverado and they still had about half tread. I bought them a winter tires but I am now using them all the time due to my Toyo's being about gone. I...
At least you and the family are safe. Like I said before... I thought these new KM2's were going to be promising. Do you know of any other people that have had any problems with these tires?
They need to be flush mounted markers. If Devin had those, he would have already broken the marker... he tapped his mirror on a parking service ticket booth.
Oh yeah... I forgot about the amp. on Halloween I had an amp self destruct on my, it smelled like someone was welding in the cab of my truck. It even welded the fuses in place. But thats alright the new one is sitting in the living room waiting to go in... cause a crew cab with rear speakers...
Its been done for about a month an a half total since school started in late august. First the vane position sensor then the pitman arm. I hope thats all for the year.
And I hope you are enjoying the full tank of gas I left you in the yellow truck.... Thanks for letting me use it

A good friend of mine knows a few MSE professors and students at WSU. We were going to see if them would at least look at the pitman arm to get their opinion on what happened or possibly have them run some tests if they would.
To give everyone an update... My truck is back on the road!
I received a new GM pitman arm from mreeves23 on Diesel Place yesterday in the mail. Today, my dad, Devin (83gmck2500), and I put the truck back together. We installed the new pitman arm on the steering box, put the steering box in...
I found Schulte's thread 5 mins after mine broke. The breaks look similar with one main difference, mine has discoloration at the point of breaking. This leads me to thing the is wasn't an instant shear, more of a fatigue then a shear (it happened over a longer period of time compared to...
No problem Bud, from what I was told you should be fine. You did what the recommend in their instructions. The only reason why I didn't replace my pitman and idler arms is that they had no signs of ware... and I was going to replace them when I do a transmission service, oil change, diff fluids...
That is true and I have thought about this already. Until I get an answer on why the pitman arm broke and what causes this problem I won't put them back on. I'm just lucky that I was traveling at less that 5 MPH in a parking lot when it broke.
I got off the phone with Chad at Cognito a little bit ago and here is a summary of what he had said.
The first thing out of his mouth was "do you have Moog arms on you truck?" I guess that they have had this same problem with mainly Moog arms. I sent him pictures of what had happened (the...
They were in the truck for a week and a half. In that time I put about 150 miles on the truck. Those miles were mainly on road/highway and a few miles on logging roads.
I figured that I would give you guys an update on the progress of the truck. I ended up taking the steering box out of the truck to get a better angle of approach on the pitman arm. I finally got it off with a heavy duty puller and a hammer. There was a guy on Diesel Place selling a brand new GM...
It really sucks that no one makes the wheels any more. I've always liked a lot of the older wheels (on the right truck). I guess that there isn't enough of a demand for them, otherwise someone might make reproduction versions. It seems most people are going towards bigger and shiny wheels. I try...
