VERY streetable! this is a great turbo and drive wonderful. i can't give you accurate egts because i'm running 40%over injectors and the egts are higher than normal because of them. the low end is not as torque-y as the stock lbz turbo but does not hurt anything. the bigger the turbo you go...
yeah i do like this sound more lol but it was a damn close tie the shrieking of those twins and torque was enough to give me a chubb everytime i got one the throttle. i raced my dad (in a 5.3 ecsb 1500) with a 12k 30' tag trailer with the twins on my truck and wailed on him up over 100 mph on a...
so far loving it! sounds soo mean hahahaha and tore up a infinity g35 this afternoon from a stoplight in 2wd :D we both burned rubber for the first hundred feet or so then my 35's got some serious traction and took off!
my truck starts just fine in ct winters at 0ish *F with one battery and no grid heater.
only reason i put the second one back in was so it looked semi-stock again for dealer visits and so i would have no trouble with my hot-start jumpstart setup.
cool part about the compressor is that it will run and keep up with my 1/2" impact gun when the truck is in high idle :D great for filling tires and swapping wheels!
the compressor is a york 210L with a 6groove serpentine clutch.
that is not a stock dmax turbo, you can modify the stockers tho. ANYTHING can be tweaked ;) all depends on how much imagination and ingenuity you've got along with lots of free time. thats my recipe for all the stuff i concoct!
and bill, you know i can't sit still with these trucks lol i'm already looking to build a second motor as spare for my truck, only this one will be a little more stout ;) gotta love a new 0% credit card lol
As promised everybody, pictures of my engine driven air compressor and new stock looking turbo setup and 35's on a stock suspension WITHOUT cranking the torsion bars all the way up
quick turbo sound video :) cold, verrrrry cold, cold start lol...
you need efi and can use the factory piece and just remove the heating element from the center when you see how restrictive it acutally is you will be amazed. i was actually kinda pissed that gm put it there in the first place....
your grid heater uses more amperage than your glow plugs... its over rated imo.. and VERY restrictive.... i removed mine last year and have not looked back since!
hahahaha i have not forgot about ya fellas..... she's going under the knife, again..... needs more air to go with the 40% over injectors...... there will be pictures i promise :D
its an air compressor :) already have too much fuel for the air i've got ;) i had to machine my own pulley and press a bearing in it though to be able to run the belt it am since i mounted the bracket different than most people would chance.
under my hood is so full its not funny now though...
:D great to hear bill! just keep the stocker around in case this gatorback does fail.
with all this belt talk that reminds me i gotta find a 6 rib 145" belt for my new custom built accessory that is sitting where the second alternator is supposed to be ;)
found 142 and 149 but nothing...
another idea would be to have the dealer order them then bring the lines to a hydraulic shop and have then double crimp the ends so they should never leak again. then go back to the dealer and have them installed and never worry again. probably what i will do in the spring.
and if they ever...
when you guys change your belts i would just leave that inner shroud off. so much of a pita to change the belt on the road if you ever have to. you lose your belt you lose charging, steering, and brakes and if the summer time fan pulling air through the radiator.
been there done that. 5 min...
