    Reassembling after a break…

Ok, no worries. I would guess Dayco better than dorman but I don’t like either. You got years on me but no male In my family made 70 since ancient biblical times so you and I are probably on the same exit schedule. If I follow suit with all the others, I get another decade on my feet then a...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Ok good. And yeah, we all get being gunshy of the waterpump mess. So sad GM did the sbc & bbc waterpump design so good- then abandoned it instead of copying that concept for the 6.2/6.5. That always made me so upset.

    Reassembling after a break…

Also- I’m gonna jump in on that Dayco balancer. Don’t. When my cousins balancer went a little sloppy on him 2 years ago, he stopped over and I helped him swap it. He bought a dayco. I warned him, but he was out of cash & time so we installed it. Then just like most the other aftermarket...

    Custom build headers

Ok, stirring this back up. I get the annoying near daily emails from Summit, Jegs, etc. and they have dual 3” exhaust kits on sale and it got me to thinking (a dangerous prospect, I know)… I’ve mentioned before that long tube headers are proven to increase torque. Also it helps with the...

    Hey All

A picture or three of how the hoses route from the catch can would be good. We can see the hose from the filler neck to the catch can. Can see a hose from the passenger side valve cover goes under turbo, but can’t see to where. There has to be something sucking the other side of the catch can...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

The smallest amount of oil on exhaust will burn off but smell up a storm the whole time. Keep an eye on pressure gauge and frequently check oil level after this type work just in case.

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

This. 100%. The high pressure hydraulic line like used in heavy equipment that is multi layered will never kink, take decades to wear or fail.

    Hey All

Welcome, Looks great. Please fill out your signature line with the rig and details regarding it. This helps a lot in chasing problems over time. We can’t see how you get rid of crankcase pressure. In a gasoline engine this would be the pcv valve & hose. Originally on the 6.2/6.5 this is done...

    6.5 Performance issues

The pulsing you see is from the liftpump- not being a gear driven pump but similar to an actuator ram going back & forth so this will cause pulsing. While it is good to see how bad the pulse is when diagnosing, it is really hard on mechanical gauges & sending units for electrical gauges. The...

    6.5 Performance issues

N/A precups are squares from GEP. Turbo is diamond. You have to really be fighting for top power to find a difference in the two power wise. I had a set of squares machined out to be as big as diamonds that I never installed because I bought a set of p400 heads instead. If you are set on...

    My new truck

I’ve seen it but only once. Never determined why, just figured vibration & when originally crimped it must have had a minor dent to start the crack from. Better this end than the starter at least.

    Newbie from the dark side

And not all of us hummer weirdos have money! Many of the hmmwv owners have that as their DD because its cheaper than regular diesel pickups.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Sure make a fellow miss the days of db2 and a manual transmission…

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Nopers. Unless someone used rubber lines for your transmission cooler. They will tell you it doesn’t need to be hydraulic hose and they can make regular automotive hose usually. Tell them no thanks, that you want it zombie apocalypse proof for the next 40 years so the multi layer hydraulic...

    Coolant flow

Ok - at this point you loose pressure from the regular pressure test so just continue to pressurize it by hand with engine off. The coolant will go somewhere. Water cooled turbo means it could go into the cylinders where it is burning away or straight into the exhaust. So when you...

Tons of parts. (Help ID please)

Haha- sorry post #10. And I searched the casting number -those aluminum parts I was wondering about is air inlet to the turbo for 2004 civilian hummers. The retail new for a couple hundred bucks each.

    Coolant flow

Winning! With nothing in oil, no exhaust going into coolant, this shouldn’t be anything internal. Regular oil cooled turbo or a water cooled turbo on it now? Water to air intercooler added? Examine carefully between radiator and rest of the cooling stack. Sometimes a pinhole leak in radiator...

Tons of parts. (Help ID please)

If someone recognizes the casting numbers off a balanced flow waterpump- That could help folks. I never remember the numbers on it. The keen eye notices the cool banks style turbo manifolds that can adapt a side mount turbo into the pre turbo trucks and pre turbo hmmwv/hummers. Idk if Grayman...
