Nice build.
Couple of suggestions/comments about it:
You need to "finish" the intake and feed those turbo's some COLD AIR! The hot underhood air intake for em, well, you may as well throw one turbo away because compressing hot vs. cold intake air is wasting a turbo. It's all fun watching fluid...
I ran a cracked block without touching the main bolts. The cracks just got worse. I won the gamble as "something else" took out the engine.
The cracks were not as long as the one you have now. I wouldn't even run that one myself. Just not worth the bother of an engine swap for a crack that...
With the aerodynamic mess GM made with our bodystyle and already poor cooling stack airflow ... Is there any good airflow to be had in the skid plate area that doesn't mess with the stack airflow or allow it to recurculate hot air through that area?
FWIW RAM Cummins already uses an approach...
Remind me why I can't get Diesel without 5% bio mixed in again in my state of AZ? Even off road red dye from the fuel distributor in 55 Gal drums has 5% Biodiesel in it.
Well it's getting hot out. So all the neglect of cooling systems, batteries, tire pressure is showing up with the summer heat and A/C use. Two major vehicle fires I know of happened in our area already. Only because friends sent me pictures of the vehicle Bar-B-Q's.
Nothing unusual here...
I am running XPS on my 5th wheel RV. My RV made the new Good Year Endurance ST tires cry "Uncle!" in less than a year. After good service life, 7 years, from normal Michelin LT's. The XPS RIB have the usual Michelin sidewall cracking is starting on them now. Maybe some other brands have less...
Tossed a timing light on to check injector patterns and watched my buddy jump back like "INCOMING!" when it shot flames 4' out of the TBI popping back. I didn't even flinch and asked: "What? This has been popping back: what did you expect? BTW... Do I still have eyebrows?" 💥🔥
New plugs and...
Sometimes one just needs a reminder that they are looking in the wrong places that have earned a reputation for Cheap.
I carried a spare alternator for years in case I ever needed it. I don't bother anymore as when I needed the spare it was DOA. Just dead weight... Moral of the story is to...
I suggest hitting a junkyard and grabbing a fixed displacement SD7 series with the correct pulley. I wouldn't bother with a variable displacement mess myself after the cheap common Sanden junkyard pull. Clutches are expensive to order sometimes being more than a new compressor.
How much air do...
The stall RPM in the converter can be different as the 6.0L is a REV happy engine. They changed controls and other things in the 4L80E several times over the years. Other heartburn: Incompatible with ECM valve body solenoids, different plugs, different shift cable connections including sensor...
So after the Glow Plugs "soften up" the batteries a bit a 10 HP starter beats them into submission! This is why there are TWO batteries in the system as one isn't enough to heat the glow plugs and then crank the engine.
It takes both batteries to start the engine.
The second battery you have...
This is THE most important part on the engine. Be frugal NOT CHEAP!!! IMO I wouldn't even be frugal, but, my budget didn't allow what was needed. I suffered badly because of shitty wore out used and shit rebuilt IP's. It was too late for my engine when I finally got a decent pump.
Hard starting...
Have you or @Diesel princess been around a farm at all?
If it's not the weather causing you trouble: Not enough rain everything dies, too much rain your equipment gets stuck and broken harvesting it.
Yeah your crops will not wait for the next paycheck to get say a damn new U-Joint. You will...
No! Do NOT add more grounds!!! As @Will L. mentioned disconnect both batteries at the battries "-" cables first.
Next you need to inspect for "+" cable shorts as @Twisted Steel Performance suggested.
Some pictures of what you have attached to the battery would help.
The positive cable to the...
How, exactly, did you ground the battery? Do you have like 600 wires tied to the negative battery terminal? Seriously if you have a "Big 3" ground setup and ran a body and frame ground to the battery negative ... you likely have an "open" or high resistance connection from the battery ground to...
After you blow a hole in an insulator ... Like going lean so it's an easier path to go through the spark plug cable vs. fire the plug. But it's now a hole in the spark plug cable. IMO It's not as good of an insulator after those events that make lots of visible sparks.
Yes it can still fire...
