Need some electrical info from the experts

Quite an odyssey on this truck, I've had my troubles too moving from and early '80's van to a '96 GMC and learning about the new weatherproof connectors was greek to me at first, now that I've done the O2 sensors I now have an understanding. From the Jeep forums I belong to there some really...

    Here's a couple of shots of those O2 Sensor pigtail extensions;

Brief thread about extracting a stuck O2 sensor and extensions

It is proabably a symptom nationwide, but I've learned around these parts that when a local shop does get someone that is sharp and sends 'em off to ASE school they last for just a few years before they head up to Portland or another major city to go where the money is.

To each their own, I could have gone full tilt boogie with my 5 lb. cross pien, but there's a danger of galling the threads if one isn't careful, this is why I took it slow.

Brief thread about extracting a stuck O2 sensor and extensions

Last week I drove 'BBB' to the local shop that I'm friends with the owner with. He put his Chevy "expert" on it to remove that O2 sensor from the pipe behind the Cat. He said he couldn't do it. I went down to the now little Sears store and got a 22mm combination wrench and with my 5 lb. cross...

Tech: 88-89 GMT400 Quad Sealed Beam upgrades (Bosch T84 E-code headlights)

Those headlighs, Bodi, are very much like the Hella Vision + headlight shells I've used in anything from a 77 & 78 Chevy PU and Blazer down to my old Ford van. Those glass composites though are still working fine for me but I've yet to wrap my mind around brightness factors of LED's to what I'm...

Far out! $5 clams and a small cup of Hot Chocolate and I scored a rear support bracket.

You're welcome Marty, what with conflicting information across a few different forums I was at a loss as well.

Thanks you guys. Once I get that rear bracket I'm planning on posting another how-to with photos for other newbies to modern truck like me. Edit: The belt I used was a Gates 060966, the original belt was showing signs of wear and may have been a little short.

Thanks Jaryd, I was fumbling a little bit on account of the rear bracket but now that I've done one of these I have a clearer understanding. It is easier than it seems after all. :)

Yes, the voltmeter is stable at 14V with all lights, radio and in reverse. I think this was the trouble the whole time, save for an overtorqued starter solenoid. I'm waiting on the wrecking yard to get the rear bracket but it's stable.

That battery is an Interstate that's just over a year old so I don't think it is failing already but with the alternator already purchased the process of elimination will continue.

That seems right, the last time this happened the battery was nearly to the plates low on water so I added some muddy water to it... just kidding, I may be an idiot but not totally, I added some distilled water to bring the levels up slightly and she's been okay until yesterday. This weekend...

    '96 5.7l/350 Upgrading from CS130 to CS144 alternator

I guess not all of us can "go home" :( I haven't had time to install that new alternator but the old one had been behaving until last night. The gauge needle returned to less than vertical and at idle the "Check Gauiges" light started to flicker on. All connections are clean and tight, which...

My family left Missoula back in '70, after I got out of the Marines in '85 I took a motorcyle trip up there on my big Sukuki and it turned out that ours was the only family that moved out the the culdesac, Colonial Lane. The kids were gone but the folks were still there, I looked up a grade...

    '96 5.7l/350 Upgrading from CS130 to CS144 alternator

I slipped by NAPA after work last night and crossed the Dayco pn. I saw on another site's thread http://www.gmtruckcentral.com/articles/2013/cs-144/cs-144.html for the serpentine belt to a Gates (060966) that they stock. I gave them the rundown on the motor and equipment and they're confident I...
