Don practically stole that Holset when he bought it for $150. Now that the guys with early Cummins engines have a stand alone controller available the prices of them have gone up substantially.
I had a nice long reply written out, but it's not worth it.
I did not create this thread to argue with you, or to even speak of the ATT. The ATT has no place in this thread, nor do i have to defend what i said on another site on this site.
I stand by what i said in that post from the other...
There has to be some merit to the restrictor. Look at a 6.2 cooling system with the horizontal t-stat setup. No bypass blocker on the stat, however the diameter of the bypass is much smaller. The 6.5 it looks to be a 1 inch diameter bypass hose. My k-5s bypass is nothing more than a piece of...
Kenny, sorry i couldn't get your call. Work was hectic today, and we didn't have a WP in stock to even check.
My central air is dead. Somehow mice got in and fried at least one of the large caps and perhaps the contactor in the condenser "case" outside. Compressor's also there so it may...
Negative on the wastegate. Don't think any of the Banks 6.2 chargers were gated. The later 6.9/7.2 ones were, but the older ones were not. 94-97 PSDs weren't gated either.
Certainly whistles a lot though it's pretty quiet at idle both engine and whistle wise. had it around locally(up the...
Amsoil has the filters for the 6.2. I was going to get one, until i turbo'd it instead. They also have universal cones and filters for other brand intakes.
Kenny that's one thing i love about the K-5s system. It's not electronic. It's vacuum. Not a bad system, but slow with the vacuum pump, at least until i did my modification by adding in a vac storage tank from a gasser into the A/C vacuum supply.
The only cable is the blend door. Vent...
I swapped the entire IP with a tested/calibrated one from Accurate. Tim said he gave it the "Banks" spec and a tad more. If the engine's spinning too slow with a load on it, you'll know it when you look in the passenger mirror.
Hottest i've seen is ~600*F pre-turbo so far. Jeff at Banks...
Can't put the K47, or the flat panel box on the K-5. No where to mount it. Not sure what i want to do yet, but i may end up using a K47 filter to get a little more vacuum in the intake tubing. I do want to build a CAI at some point, but there is very limited space there. The Banks filter box...
You should go back to him. It's his fault that your in this situation. PUt blame where it belongs, and the blame does not belong on you. Just think if you didn't see that oil leaking, you'd have lost your engine too.
x2. They don't just back al the way out and fall out. The ones on my 96 were a tiny bit loose after 160,000+ miles. Snugged them up and my rattling noise at takeoff from a light went away. Barely turned them any and they were tight again.
The trans guy is very involved in this, whether he...
Truck's only been out of the shop for about 2-3 days now. Haven't put but a few miles on it since the turbo was installed. The Banks manual didn't state adding any more oil, but i've always put in 8 quarts, versus the ~7 it takes. The internal oil cooler takes close to a quart itself...
Been running the 51794 for close to a year if not more now. Switched between Rotella and Delvac, both 15w-40. Noticed it, but now with the turbo on it basically confirms it.
You can see it in the oil pressure gauge too. It'll twitch, like air is hitting the sending unit. That started with...
Didn't write much about this swap here. Didn't really have the time.
This pictures a few weeks old. I've since touched up the lower intake, since it had to be removed.
Oh. I found the remaining piece of lifter retainer from my other thread. It was sitting inside the oil pump pickup and...
Just noticed a possible issue with the 2 quart filters with no anti-drain back valves. Today wheni went to fire up my K-5, the turbo sounded a little "choppy" sounding like it was lacking lubraction, then the whistle because smooth. No oil for a good 10+ seconds at startup. The entire top end...
There's a guy around here that has a 6.2 truck that the block physically cracked right by the starter due to someone leaving pure water in the cooling system. He said there's a huge crack up the side of the block.
Ha i remember that. Didn't you get stuck plowing your mothers driveway when you needed the chains? I'm amazed that truck got stuck.
I think the reason mine wouldn't get stuck was because of the manual. I could control speed entirely with the trans and compression braking, not having to lock...
you ain't kidding. I knew my pickup was going to be crappy in the snow, but i didn't think it would be as utterly worthless in the snow as it turned out to be. I think it's just so much torque at low RPM(versus a gasser) that the wheels just break what little traction they had and spin up a...
