As to the recall- that was for the ds4 ip, not the LP (Lift pump).
Basically GM pinched pennies and only cared about the ip making it out of warranty. Only one on 25,000 would get a new LP installed. Almost no one ever actually put a pressure gauge on it after a new LP is installed so the...
Looks right to me.
I wouldn’t worry a ton about run a timing chain instead of the gear set Leroy sold.
The chain is ok, gears are a convince factor if you aren’t running a massive lift camshaft or rocker arms.
A speedi sleeve is a super thin cylindrical pipe that fits over the crankshaft...
With the V groove belt system-(not serpentine belt)
You can ignore the comments about balanced flow and specific exact part numbers.
AC Delco or Gates were both good choices. Stay away from flow cooler.
You do want one that says “H.O.” High Output. More flow the better in these puppies.
I...
Here the rebar (reenforcement bar) would be rigged into it’s location and pour the concrete around it. By cutting the concrete, adding it, then pouring over, the rigidity isn’t as strong because it ow relies on the adhesion of the two.
Yup. And if you guys paid attention to builds where guys share the information (n8in8or comes to mind) and anyone wanting any performance advances cam and ignition timing.
How his video showed slack at 90,000 miles- that is how much slack is in a 6.5 chain by 40,000 miles. High compression...
I wouldn’t do a db2 conversion to eliminate problems and not buy a brand new one.
Last I saw the trans controller is $600.
You don’t need the rare 96 crossover. If you find one great, otherwise look at the link in my signature. You can accomplish the same thing with that, a couple diy...
The test fluid is supposed to be a far less flammable oil and I would guess nothing that evaporates easily since we have known gasoline to leave not happy residue behind even before they required our fuels to become alcoholics.
Afaik only the db2 has hardened parts made for the arctic pumps...
Half hitch works.
Dally is just different, two wrap around and one through instead of one wrap around pipe and two through to secure.
Just using a ratchet strap allows the force needed when by yourself.
@Big T
on the 5 word thread you said needing to hammer in pipe so second person-
Nope. Get a ratchet strap. Dally the short strap over one end (the side that isn’t going to move). Primer, glue, pull into the lip by hand, then dally paint he other end of strap on the pipe and ratchet it...
I see no point in replacing a pump under warranty with one you buy.
And there are enough people building new ds4 now that is squashed the worry of none being available afaik.
Run the two year warranty pump, and if there’s a problem, you have them replace it.
As to going along effort for long-term preservation of a pump, just disconnect the fuel hose on the engine and feed it some 10 weight straight oil if not available, 30 weight compressor oil I believe is a simple...
Over on hummernetworkforums.com a guy with 6.5TD centermount engine is for sale.
He blew a head gasket, one head toast, other one cracking between valves could be brass sleeved and ran 100k or so. The block is a May 99 so supposedly latest version GM ever made.
You’d have to verify cylinder...
It’s hard for me to not promote the db2 every time I can. But already having the tooling, scanner, know-how etc means 90% of your pain is done.
My friend Charles says: The enemy of good is better. If I had listened to that advice years ago my hummer would have been on the road long ago.
