Gm engineer- talks alot about trans so this is here but really- learn it’s everything

I wonder what transmission this has.
Thinking probably the 6L90E.
I think once a person gets done with the engine and transmission that the dealer would have to give the truck away for it to be worth the investment to the purchaser.
I have not priced out the engine and transmission for this though so IDK.
And IDK about the area code on that phoney number.
All of Montana is 406.

Well if it is v8 with 6 speed- so it would need the afm delete if not done yet.
If you can diy the delete it isn’t too bad. But paying a shop to do it is pricey.

Imo if you diy: pull the engine down the new cam & lifters with plugging the oil feed for afm and different cover. The ecm can be reprogrammed for a couple hundred.
Clean the flashing as always.
But while it’s out- ball hone the cylinders and throw in new rings- gapless. Swap the bearings out. Then a quick glance at the valves they are probably ok.
There is a correction to make with the oil pickup tube and oil pump. Then new set of spark plugs when it goes back in. Then that engine should be good for another 250,000.

The transmission is up in the air. Plan on it by 200,000 mile mark. If it’s a 6l90e then it should be ok till 225-300 k or ange depending how hard they worked it.
If it’s the joint 6 speed they did then it is time to rebuild it now, and every 175,000 miles there after.

The original add, didnt read it before posting the page, said that the transmission was okay until it warmed up then it would slip.
