    limp mode and leaking transmission

It was free enough to work loose with a tyrap. Seems to be working just fine. Probably gonna flush when I can afford to. Or maybe even drop the pan again and look for more of that crap.

    limp mode and leaking transmission

I probably should have. But I had no knowledge of what the hell I was doing and even less time to do it. My cousin was nice enough to let me use his garage so I could use the lift. He said he's had magnets with so much stuff on them you'd think it was part of the magnet. The part that baffled us...

    limp mode and leaking transmission

Update: I got that piece changed last night. Still in limp mode. That piece cracking was just a coincidence. Oh and u joint was bad even though it appeared good when I originally checked at when I first heard the noises. Took valve body out tonight and cleaned. Problem solved. That gray sludge...

01 Allison, Suncoast stage IV w/1056 convertor

Well after what I found id say it was that loose bolt rubbing on the TC!

Oh WTF can this damage the internals

A p 1711 code. I'm gonna put up on lift tomorrow and cross my fingers that cleaning the valve will fix everything. But I am nervous that those bolts not being properly tightened has caused damage. And really really REALLY hoping that there wasn't anything else that wasn't torqued down. As I'm...

Oh WTF can this damage the internals

Yes and yes. About 50-60K miles ago I brought transmission down to champion transmission in CT and had them do a Suncoast stage IV kit. Back in Sept or Oct it went into limp mode. I got home and checked fluid level and was within range. Underneath I found the extension housing was cracked. I...

Oh WTF can this damage the internals

After I pulled the torque convertor, one of the bolts that holds the bell housing to the transmission fell out. I checked the others and all were loose. Or could be tightened I should say. None were to the point of falling out other than that one. The outer cooling fins on TC are a lil chewed...

    limp mode and leaking transmission

It's the extension housing that's cracked. I cleaned it off and started it while I reached up and video recorded with my phone. Apparently they are known for cracking. http://www.specialtytrans.com/specialty/gm/allision/allison_cracked_tail_housing.htm

How do you rewire a relay?

If you jump 30 and 87 and lift pump works, either the relay is bad or you have no coltage to the coil. But check both 85 abd 86 for voltage. Ceck for both + and-. It may have constant + and switched- if controlled through another relay.

    limp mode and leaking transmission

Thx. I figured Mike L would probably know of a common issue there.

How do you rewire a relay?

Thx for the diagram. All coming back. 30, 87, and 87a are the dry contacts of the relay. All don't have 87a because that is a single pole double throw relay. 30 is common, 87a N.C. and 87 N.O. With power to the coil, 30 and 87 will be connected. Without, 30 and 87a will be. If 30 is used for...

How do you rewire a relay?

85, 86, and 87 are all coil wires. None are for the load being controlled. Unless it was wired in series with another relay, there should be another terminal with power. As long as memory is serving me correctly. Thx BT, nice to be back.
