UPDATE: This truck does have an electronic speed sensor on the rear of the transmission. Inexpensive part, easy swap, speedometer working again. I'm sure it is coincidental, but the ABS light went out and has not come on since then either. Thanks for the replies and suggestions all!

1996 6.5 Diesel, 5 speed manual, 242,000 original miles. Transmission built twice now at 130K and 225K. Not sure if this is all coincidental, but all 3 of these components are giving me issues. Started with the washer fluid pump not working, then the ABS light is on with an occasional shake...

Hello! 1996 GMC 6.5 Diesel. 225,000 miles. Have recently discovered a small fuel leak from the 1/4" fuel line going into the mounting block for the PMD. my question is how far down the valley is the other end of that line? I am going to remove the manifold and snip the end off the current...

I did not replace the rag joint on the column....sounds like that is my next step. Has anyone adjusted the small set screw on top of the steering box? ran across that recommendation on YouTube.

1996 6.5 diesel. Very loose steering, lots of free play. Also feels very heavy at slow speed turning. Any suggestions before taking to the shop. Side note: entire front end was rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago.

Are all the comments about related transmission issues on automatics? I have the NV4500 5 speed in mine.

I installed mine last summer with the same variances. I emailed LeRoy diesel and he said he had not noticed that before. So far, I have not had any issues. still runs 20-25 degrees cooler than with stock pump and fan.

Thanks, it has always been reliable, but it is now time to take it up a notch. I've owned it for 18 years. I haven't always had any extra money for anything besides needed repairs. Now I am in a position to spend some money on things to make it better!
