Its a resonator for noise basically. You can remove and use a 2" pipe plug to fill it. You can find the pipe plug at any standard hardware store in the PCV section of plumbing...

I just picked up a DiabloSport Predator for my LBZ and am very impressed with it!

AIRAID's new line of MXP intakes - By far the best on the market... You will need part #200-219. Just my .02 cents though...

With the truck idling in park turn on and off some accesories (headlights, a/c etc.) the voltage draw from those should change the pitch of the whine if its the alternator....
