It was a rebuild. And very badly rebuilt. That's the last time I'll get a crate rebuild. I had to do more work to it then if I rebuilt it myself.

Could be a cracked case. But, I have seen big rigs leak in some positions at the pitman shift, and not in others. Of coarse, the shaft come out the side of the box on those. This case interests me. Wondering if they are o-ring fittings. Maybe an o-ring rolled on you during installation, and the heat swelled it up and sealed it. Or a flare fitting. The gush of oil cleaned it out and let is seat.

Thank you. That square body was my daily until about two years ago. It developed low oil pressure and a rod knock. I enjoyed driving it. Haven't had time to pull the engine and check it out.
