What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Pulled a nice crack free dash from junkyard yesterday. Day before, I got my rear HVAC box all cleaned up and ready to go back in the burb with new hearer core and ac evaporator. Picked AC manifold gauges from harbor freight - on sale. Will be working on the front HVAC tonight.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

I got a set of high pop injectors from quadstar and I was a little concerned with a bent return line barb as it got me wondering about the attention to detail or lack thereiff when setting up the internals. I sent them to Oregon fuel injection to have tested and they came back with flying...

    Going Manual Brakes?

I have had two different close calls, one potentially deadly when ABS system malfunctioned. One awd Toyota previa and one on my 98 suburban. Both vehicles getting up there in age. You could argue it is the owners responsibility to maintain the ABS system. I agree they work as intended if...

    Going Manual Brakes?

There is no load sensing proportioning valve on these stock. Just the one tied into the abs module. Which sucjed in the suburbans, it was so front brake heavy that gm later provided an updated one in service bulletin. Anyway, the braking on this thing right now with no proportioning valve...

    Going Manual Brakes?

And I have been considering the gmt800 brake upgrade, BUT, IF there was a chance at making a manual system work great, I think that the two smaller piston calipers might be a move in the wrong direction of optimal mc piston/to caliper piston ratio for this theoretical manual brake setup.

    Going Manual Brakes?

Ok. I hear you guys. I am learning things here. Good point about the accumulator. Seems a shorter belt bypassing the steering pump is best way to really test. I am fortunate to have a 2 mile straight stretch in front of the house in open flat rural area. It is nice for breaking new pads and...

    Going Manual Brakes?

Interesting results. first couple tries I had decent braking and pedal still felt pretty soft then faded a little at end. Third try, from 5o mph, I killed engine and gave it a 1 and half count before applying brakes, this time braking felt pretty inadequate with a soft peddle and reduced braking...

    Going Manual Brakes?

Hmmm....hadn't thought of that. I have a nice long quiet stretch of road right out my door. Will report back soon.

    Going Manual Brakes?

I have a 98 k2500 6.5 diesel suburbaan with 1 ton brake upgrade and abs delete. I am failry happy with current brakes...BUT I am always looking to modify/simplify and or upgrade things. Right now I have new stock MC and hydraulic (JD8?) brake booster. From what I read the booster provides...

    4wd Actuator

Have you checked the wiring thoroughly? Most likely culprit. I would check with voltmeter for a grounded out power lead at harness connector. I think I saw in another post you ordered a rebuild kit for this transfer case. Make sure you get the upgraded oil pump or a aftermarket guard piece...

    4wd Actuator

I think one of the rears runs the speedometer VSS or whatever it is and the other feeds the transfer case module. Not sure, but that is my guess. Check your wiring thoroughly. It is more likely the wiring than the sensor itself, I would think.

    4wd Actuator

I just looked at my old 246 case and it looks like there are two speed sensors on the rear output shaft side of case as well as one on the front. so three speed sensors total.

    4wd Actuator

It's been awhile. I can't say for certain. I think that is right though, just two.

    4wd Actuator

I had th same symptons of your 246 as you are having. I would look t the speed sensors. There is probably a short, likely a cracked wiring insulation. the rear sensor wiring is somewhat close to exhaust and gets brittle over time. The transfer case computer module needs to see certain speed...

The rods are steel tubes/spacers that trans mount bolts pass through?
