Horn won't quit after changing multifunction switch 1995 K2500 Chev 6.5 dsl need help!

My 4 way flashers were not working when I bought the truck. 1995 K2500 Ext Cab 6.5L Diesel. Flickers worked fine but no 4 way flashers. It appeared to me the problem was the multifunction switch on the steering column as the 4 way flasher was sticky and no flicking at all when engaged. I...

6.5L Vibrations, any ideas what it can be?

Yes. Thanks. I was paying attention to the pattern left on the balancer from where it was bolted on before. Figured it was a no brainer. I guess not! I guess if you had a new plate, you would want to make sure the counterweight faces the block and not the TC!

6.5L Vibrations, any ideas what it can be?

Does that mean the 6.5 crank end is different than the 6.2 that I took a picture of? I could hardly see how you could ever misalign the dowel! While the FP might bolt on an angle, I think the bolts would be too short to catch and it should be obvious that you are not installing it in correct...

6.5L Vibrations, any ideas what it can be?

I am not sure what that would do for me! It is @Scott_2255 that has the problems. I could lay this FP on a flat surface and I don't see any issues with mine.

6.5L Vibrations, any ideas what it can be?

I looked at my flexplate. It looks like it is impossible to mount incorrectly. The counterweight actually faces the engine block and the dowell insures that it only fits one way. Forgot to mention this is a 6.2 but assume 6.5 is no different!

6.5L Vibrations, any ideas what it can be?

I wonder if @Scott_2255 could manually straighten his flexplate with a prybar while rotating and correcting it to see what happens. Just curious as to why you would get warpage on a flexplate in the first place? Of course, if it is cracked, nothing would help. I would be inclined to rotate...

6.5L Vibrations, any ideas what it can be?

So I guess if it is externally balanced and you change the flexplate due to warpage, you may require rebalancing or making your new flexplate look like the old one if I understand correctly. Removing weights and holes and place them on your new one!

6.5L Vibrations, any ideas what it can be?

As mentioned in your original post, make sure your alignment dowel is lined up with your flexplate and that it was present on your Scat crankshaft when you added the flexplate. Obviously position matters as a counterweight in the wrong position would cause vibration if it was out 180 degrees...

Thanks for the heads up on signature line, will post some pics. This was my last truck - a '96 that lacks compression and tried to start. Bought it with a donor engine. I am hoping to take heads out of it and put into the donor engine that I bought with the truck. That was the idea of the...

I have 6.2 liter and 6.5 liter diesel trucks - some working, some not! I always try to keep at least one on the go. As a result, it seems these older trucks always needs some TLC and also need some answers to puzzling questions. Looking forward to sharing my knowledge and passing on what I...
