I want to upgrade my lights. I did not care for them at first because I thought they were just for show but after driving my GF's beamer for a while at night I would like to upgrade my truck headlights. Will the denali projector housing fit our trucks? Any other suggestions? I like the 5-6K lights. Not a fan of the really blue lights I see on the road.
 
I see you have a GMC, so yes, the Denali Projector Headlights will drop right in, no Modification needed.

IMO, just go OEM Denali. Don't get the A/M ones with the Angel Eyes & LED's all over the place. Leave that stuff for the Ricers.

The Denali Lamps use a 9005 Bulb for both the Low Beam & High Beam. Your current OEM Sierra Lights use a 9006 Low Beam and 9005 High Beam.

35w 4300k is what comes on ALL OEM HID Equipped Vehicles. Don't let anyone tell you 6k, 8k, 10k is the OEM Color. If they tell you anything other than 4300k, they know NOTHING about HID's.

4300k is pure White & 6k will be White with a Purple Tint. Not too dramatic, but it won't be pure White.

Since you want to run Denali Housings, you could prob. get away with a 50w or 55w HID Kit because of the Projector.

If you decide to get a 50w or 55w Kit, you MUST get a Relay Harness. It's not really needed with the 35w Kits, but I Install a Harness on ALL the HID Installs I do and have never had 1 Failure in 5 Years of Installing them.
 
I agree. I'm running pure white and couldnt be happier. I think the 6k's have a nice blue tint to them but my choice was 4300 pure white. The pictures in my sig are mine to the left at 4300 and Rydnhi4x4's to the right with 6k's. There really isnt a whole lot of difference though.

Denali projectors look awesome on GMC's and they snap right in.
 
4300K is what a lot of OEM applications use, but 500K is very popular too... anything over that is not an OEM setup.... I am running 6000K and it makes them look good at night and the light output is incredible.... I highly recommend at least a 50000k but do not go over the 6000K or you will be losing light output... 8000k is extremely bright on the eyes of the oncoming traffic but equal in output to a halogen and anything higher than that is less output than a halogen bulb
 
Supposedly, anything higher than 4300k or 5000k, you'll lose 20% actual light output, and the higher the number, the more actual light you lose.

I wouldnt mind a set of amber for my fogs but I've seen them in person and they're gold, not amber. I could swear though that I've seen cars with amber HID's.
 
I installed some amber/yellow HID's on mine and they kind of come out yellowish but they do a good job. They are bright as hell. I used the 9005 High beam bulb.
I think they were 3200k or 34kkor somewhere around there.

I am also thinking of switching to the Denali projectors. I thought I had read somewhere that you weren't supposed to use HID's in them, but I could be wrong.
Anybody have any experience with HID's in this Denali projectors (oem, not a/m)

Thanks guy's. That is exactly the info I was looking for. We have a big pull-a-part lot now and they are cheap as hell. No ricer/bling aftermarket crap goes on my truck:nono:. I want functionality. I believe the color I am looking for now is 5300K? I have no idea what color the BMW lights are but they are a bit too blue for me but look good on the silver car:cool:. I am taking my tool box and going shopping Saturday. I am assuming I am looking for the 03-06 year models?
I am assuming the relay kit is to supply the ballast and uses the factory wiring for the coil? I can handle that myself I believe:rolleyes:

For you guru's what else can I pull to customize my truck? What else is a direct replacement GM to GMC since I will be shopping?

EDIT: Are the denali's hid's or just projectors? Do I pull the ballast also or do I go aftermarket? Point me in the right direction, manufacturer names, junk to stay away from etc...I am a lighting noob!

I am starting research on the dvd/navaid swap. My spring project. I decided to keep my oil burner for a while so now it is time to put some lipstick on the pig so to speak.
 
The BMW Lights are 4300k. If those were too Blue for you, the only thing left is 3000k. That's gonna be a Gold / Yellow Color. When you start going up in the Kelvin Scale, the Color is going to get more Blue / Purple, and have less Output.

'01+ for the Denali Lights.

Yea, the Relay is to provide the Ballasts with Power directly from the Batteries. With a Relay Harness, all you gotta do is get 12v + / -, Plug into only 1 of the OEM Bulb Plugs to get the Signal to turn On the Lights, and Plug the other 2 Connectors into the Ballasts and you are done.

The Denali's never came with OEM HID's, so they are all Halogen. So just pull the Headlamps and that'll be all you need.

IMO, the Kenwood DNX8120 is the best Unit out there now. I got the Alpine w505 now, but I'm having Output problems, and need a semi-warm day here to go through the whole Truck to find it. But if it happens to be the Headunit, I'm goin with the 8120.
 
The BMW's may have looked blue because of their projector lenses. I know that from certain angles, the colors seem to change a bit, but they are really a pure white when looking at them head on. I would stick with 4300 or 5000k. Its pretty much the same so some websites call them 4300's and some call them 5000's. There was a guy on the other site who swapped HIDs into the Denali projectors and they looked awesome. I dont remember who it was though. The HID's I use are all plug and play. No wiring, no splicing needed. Just plug them in and you're good to go.

I looked at Kenwood 7100 before I ended up robbing an Escalade for a factory GM touch screen nav. Personally, I prefer the factory look and now that I'm used to it, its easy to operate and I think it looks good and its saved me a bunch of times. Looking back, I dont know how I got around without it...Its amazing how technology spoils you. I also bought a GM factory Escalade Lux amp so now, I have a full Escalade sound system with the touch screen nav. The amp does require wiring modifications and the GM nav wont work with it unless you buy a LUX nav, but this is only if you're staying factory. If you decide to go aftermarket, I wouldnt worry about it.
 
I went with Reto-Solutions for an HID kit and I'm pretty happy with them. I got 55W digital ballasts with 4300K lamps. I didn't run a relay because Retro told me they only pull 7.5 amps at start up but I may reconsider putting one in when it's a little warmer outside.

Nick, I want to stay factory so I am gonna strip what I can if I find a caddy. I am sure I will have some future questions for you:D. That is a whole new thread. What name brand ballast do you have?
 
Supposedly, the ballasts are made from "Panasonic" components and they're using Phillips bulbs. My HID low and high beams went in 5/07 and my HID fogs went in 2/08 and I havent had a problem yet. (knock on wood of course)

There are many good brands out there. There's a site that I trust personally and I've sent the link to hundreds of people over the years. That I know of, no one has had a problem.

These guys here have gotten substantially less expensive as the years go on. Now, I see that you're getting the same kit I have got for $56 and it cost me more than double that when I bought them 2 years ago.

I know that Nick at Nor-Cal-Truck also sells HID kits and maybe Chad at Alligator Performance but I cant seem to find them on their sites.

Yeah, with like 30 bucks for shipping, so it evens out. They advertise cheap but they make up for it with shipping. Mine were around $115 when I bought them.

So how cheap is cheap??
Let me know a price. If you find a second set of denali projectors, I would love a set for my 06. Let me know prices or rough estimate. If they are that much cheaper than my local options, I may ask you to pick up a set for me and I'll throw you some money for the hassle and shipping.

check out rigid industries.... they make an HID conversion kit in any calvin scale you want and have a true no hassle no haggle warranty and they have free shipping... I think it might be dirtlights.com or something like that.... 100% best bang for your buck hands down...
