Top = New key fob case. Bottom = old broken key fob case. New will crank the engine, but no start. Other set of keys with old key fob will crank and start the vehicle. At the top right of old broken fob there is a rectangular piece, is that for sending a security signal to start the vehicle?

I was unable to remove that rectangle from the old fob and the new fob has nothing to hold it. Sounds like I need to pull that rectangle and transfer it to a new fob with a holder for it. Can anyone help and confirm what I have going on here.

If You got plenty of room then try gluing that rectangular piece into the non busticated fob, put it together and see how it does.
Or even a little tape to hold it in place temporarily.
I cut a strip from an ad card in the mail. Folded it in a size and thickness that would mop up the space and make it a snug fit. Essentiallly, I fabricated a shim to firmly hold it in place. I then put it back together and my tests had it working just fine. So it’s good now.

I just don’t see how the seller described it as a direct replacement for my year carI, when it wasn’t.

Something for the overcrowded memory banks.

Can’t believe I failed to transfer the RFID chip in the first place. But it was snuggly in its old receptacle and I was working with tired eyes. I just assumed it was a fixed part of the old case. Now I’m feeling pretty stupid over this.

I was just gonna say to take the old case with the thingy in it and hold it near where you insert the key and see if she fires up. if so and your not concerned about the RFID chip. you can trim it out and then hide it inside the column under the plastic shroud. with that in place you can have any old spare key cut to turn the cylinder and will start the car.

heck you could even have a doodad 3d printed to hold the RFID chip that would attach on a keychain or one of those small wrist lanyards. place it on the wiper/cruise control stalk thats on the same side the key cylinder is and leave it hanging there. then when you go somewhere you might not want to leave it in the car like staying at a hotel, just take it out and put it on your wrist!

Bought a new fob for the wifeys 08 Maliblue.
Took it to the very reputable lock smith.
Dont remember the details but they could not get their new FOB to function.
They sent me home with it for some reason of that too which has evacuated my memory banks.
Might be the same problem with the new key FOB as whats the matter with Your new FOB.
Needs the micro device switched over.
I just run across that new FOB the other day when clearing off the work bench. Maybe I’ll take it back to them and find out why I took it home with me. 🤷😱😖😹😹😹

I've ordered replacement FOB remotes off the jungle site before that were for 02-04 GM vehicles, tried to program them for my friend's burb but they just would not work! after my wife brought the trailblazer home I notice the remote for it was kinda flaky on the lock/unlock buttons so I dug those remotes out (why I didn't return them IDK) tried to program them for the trailblazer being it's an 06 model and the remotes looked the same... well they worked!!

Doors, remote start and remote trunk button all failed on this car.
Maybe I should take it to the dealer with the one remote i’ve got left and see if its a programming issue.
an 08 malibu? Yea the dealer can reprogram them or if someone with an enhanced scanner can do it. iirc the GM tech2 can do it as well. if someone has one of those CKO tech 2's it would be worth a try and not have to pay big $$ only for the dealer to tell you something else needs to be replaced or fixed!

heck I bet you buy one of those CKO tech 2's with all the extras for the same or less cost that the dealer would charge just to program the remotes!

on the plus side, you'd have a tech 2 for your truck and for any other GM, saab, and other cars it will work on!!

Yup. Dont need a key fob long as it starts and runs.
I emailed Autel and they came back and said the AP200 was not born with such capabilities.
I could get in though and read voltages at various door components, active and not active.
After that it sees that the inside door lock button began functioning again.
Like it used to do. Double tap the lock or unlock button and all the doors would respond except for the drivers door.
I had to be locked manually with the lock knob and unlocked with the key.
Good enough for this old clunker. 😹😹😹
Tire monitor batteries all died long time now.
Just had new tires installed, sales rep mentioned that, told him we are not spending $200.00 to $250.00 just so we can see how the tires is doing.
I’d buy some aftermarket valve stem monitors and an app first.
