Suction Side Air Leaks

Have a remanned unit on its way.
Well, at least put in for it this morning.
I am hoping it will make it here by Friday anyhow, give me Saturday to get the truck together and the pump tested out.
I do think that it would be wise to order in one of those new pumps just to have it on the shelf. 🤷

I sent an email to QST about if there is any warrantee on those new DS4 pumps and waiting for a reply.
See how that goes before I make the decision over the new or the Flight Systems remanned pump.
The price of the reman units makes it mighty tempting to go that route, but then, if the reman units does the same as this reman unit and I have to wait for a replacement then there would be no time left to make it to Ohio and to the function over there that I would like to attend, and, My brothers childhood friend has to be back to his home by the 29th of June to pick up his daughter at the Billings air terminal.

I went with the AC Delco reman off Amazon for $794 with shipping. Last I looked they were $1,100 and now I can no longer find them.

Flight Systems is $875.00 then a $225.00 refundable fee with shipping label.
Come to $1100.00 but be able to retrieve the 225.
I do believe that before this pump arrives that I will get one of those new pumps on the way.
Seems I just need that security blanket. 🤷🤯😹

That’s a good price. What is Flight System’s reputation on reman pumps? I have two cores in the garage and probably should send at least one in for a reman.

IDK.
Sold through QS Tuning.
Dorman bought out the PMD portion of the business but IDK about the pump remanufacturing side.
At least the PMDs are USA made.
I would think if FS is rebuilding pumps then they would also do those in house to keep on top of QC.
I guess I’ll be the guinea pig and give it the first test flight. 🤷😹

Got the pump andda packa twizzlers.
Thank You @Quadstar Tuning LLC
Pump looks great and I love the tag that states that the pump was remanufactured in the USA.

Now I’ll box up the IP that was sucking air but I might keep the motor/solenoid that controls the advance mechanism.
If it is that solenoid/motor that perform that function.

I had a drilling/welding job to do for a friend that helps me quite a bit.
He has a set of scaffolding that had no feet or castors.
I had a set of heavy duty castors and he had some steel plates.
Drilled holes in the plates to bolt the castors through then welded pipes to the middle of the flat plates to fit inside the scaffold legs.
He was mighty happy with that little bit.
He tried to pay me, cant do that.
My cousins Polaris ATV kept running down the battery. This guy retired from the local Polaris dealership, he knew immediately what the problem was, voltage regulator had a sort of a bubble on the side. Floyd replaced the VR and not another problem.
Now tomorrow evening I can go full bore on getting the bad IP removed and the reman unit installed.

The bad pump is removed.
On the reman pump, the PMD is actually a PMD and mounted to the pump.
I hope the crew at QST dont get tired of so many questions.
I sent them an email asking if it would void the warranty if that PMD was removed and mounted to a heat sink behind the bumper and run from an extension harness.
Their response was.
The PMD can be moved but to just keep track of the SN on it in case there is a problem later on.
And so, the PMD will become just a PD before this is all done.
For some reason the ground wire on the pump harness has some indicator paint applied to the fastener head for tamper proofing.
None of the other screws has the tamper seal applied.
I have the PD extension harness to the right/passenger side of the engine.
That ground wire is a problem in that it will not allow the terminal connector to reach out from under the intake manifold so instead of messing with that one grounding screw I clipped and spliced in an extension wire.
Now the harness connector should be well within reach of being from under the manifold.
