88GMCtruck's 98 Silverado Towpig Build: "Black Fox"

Just spent 9 days on the Oregon Coast, camping in the sand with the camper riding the quad.

Oregon Coast!!!

I don't stay in any silly campgrounds. I air down and head out into the sand!

Take notice, I ditched all the smoked lighting as well... I'm liking the look more at the moment.

Broke camp part way during the week to empty and refill camper tanks, stop at the store, and grab more fuel.

I feel like I could use another week down there soon. It's super enjoyable.

looks awesome!

How is the new NV4500 doing? what fluid are you running, and are the "gears turning" on how to rig up the temp sensor to the ECM?

So far so good. Man, having a brand new OEM transmission, you never realize how tight one of these can be. It's smooth and quiet.

Running GM fluid, only thing I will put in it.

As far as a temp sensor, I bought a set of Geartech HD PTO covers (have yet to install) and will mount a sensor in one of them. Then it's just 2 wires up to the computer, and I'll be able to view it from the handheld programmer.

Looks like a heck of an experience out there!

Is it windy most of the time? Was looking at the one pic around your rig where the sand drifts up.

Just catching up on this Dave. I like the "patio" set up on the trailer so you aren't on sand all the time. I'd recommend a piece of mud flap to protect the air tank and plumbing from rocks. Outstanding installation work as usual.

Thanks. There aren't any plumbing connections on the tire side, everything else is up front and it tucked quite up there, i would be surprised if anything could hurt it. The tank itself is off a semi trailer, it's pretty thick so I'm not really worried about it. It's not some thin universal tank

Been a minute since I've updated this thread :p

Oh that's right I went camping again. I'd never do that would I?

Have actually been home the last few weekends, the most recent one involved a full wash, clay, wash, cut and polish of the dually. It's amazing how good it looks now.

Done! Oh and I ditched the plasti-dip on the bumper. Not sure if I like this better or before.

And, a snapshot of what is to come.... Something involving Z71 taillight covers.

As always great pictures of the beautiful scenery that you encounter on your adventure and camping trips. That is my style of camping, out away from the crowds in the wilderness. Makes me want to hit the woods camping, but it has been so dang hot. October through December I will get my share of it during the hunting season.

Great job on the truck it shines like a brand new one. Did you use a clay bar on it?

how is the new NV4500 doing? got the temp sensor wired in yet?
It's been doing good, I have a set of Geartech HD coolers sitting on the workbench waiting to go on. For the life of me I just don't feel like crawling under the truck right now

My take on LED tails. I probably should have originally bought the red set way back when, but I had these and the OEM tails. BTW the OEM tails were coated in nightshade.... So the process involved removing that with lots and lots of wet sanding. Started out with 400, moved to 600, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000 followed by Compound, polish and wax. Once they were back up to par, bake them for 10-min at 200 in the over, pull the lenses, add some RTV and slap them on the LED bases. They were a direct fit.

Remember those Z71 taillight guards? Yup. Put those on as well. I'm, not usually one for stick on accessories, but these were provided by Ma General so they are acceptable in my book ;)

Some shots on the truck. The leds work perfect behind the OEM lenses. They are nice and bright, line up with the OEM cuts in the lens, line up with the Z71 covers, and have that perfect blend of custom and OEM that I love.

But I'm not done yet....

Carefully modified my set of euro amber upper corner lights. They ended up being off center a bit due to the way the light/grille are angled behind the GMC grille.

I also added some fake tile backsplash to the camper kitchen. These stick on tiles are pretty cool.

Very nice, ready to go on another camping adventure. I say adventure instead of camping trip because you go to some unique beautiful places that the ordinary camper (person) does not go to. And once there you have some fun, riding atv's and such.

Yeah, I love camping, and our state has tons of places to do it too. It's just becoming so damned crowded.

Did my normal thing the other weekend, had to show these shots :)

So, just as an update, last weekend I sold my 02 GMC. Part of me is broken about it, but I literally never used it anymore. It just sat getting dirty all the time outside. A little rememberane.
