New diesel TDI added to the stable today

Congrats on your purchase.

I haven't had time to do much looking. Kind of hard to believe for a guy that's out of work. LOL

If you find 2 more send one my way.

Awesome!
Post us up some pics if ya get it...
Will def be getting it, picked up the loan yest. will be flying to S.A. on Sun and driving back. GLS model, white ext, no sunroof(good), cloth, 5 sp. will clean intake and do ventectomy if it hasn't been done. hoping to go a week between tanks. i will post pics.

That must be the quick way to clean an intake, or for us without a parts cleaner tank. I would be worried about warping it torching it that long, but I guess aluminum transfers the heat fast enough, and thats a wet towel around it.

I would love to get into a BMW 335D, 3.0L turbo inline six that is fast as heck and can get up to 40mpg. Faster than my 97 Z28 that gets 13-15mpg. Now if only diesel fuel didnt cost 50 cents more a gallon than gas in CA.

I just cleaned out the intake and throttle body of our 2006 Hybrid Escape, and was surprising the gunk in it, and it also made a nice little difference in idle quality and zippiness.

96 passat. Identical to mine! Getting 52mpg fairly consistant, and enough power to cut tires loose in 3rd gear.
You will LOVE that car! Block the egr, and take the breather out of the intake. That will eliminate gunk buildup in the intake.
check relay 109 under the dash. If it is a black one, replace it. I just fried an ecm due to 109 relay going bad.

Mods to mine- 12mm pump, injectors (not real big), 2 1/2 exhaust, egr delete.

at the airport, kind of sad, didn't get strip searched. land at 3, drive car home.
then, mod time. vcc, ventectomy, etc .......

OH FUDGE!!!

Driving home from work last night and the oil light came on, I shut the engine down pronto & coasted off the expressway. Towed it home, it's all wet mostly under the center & slightly towards the passenger side, it could be inline with the turbo?

Something blew out or off. I just got it home....

I have not tried to restart it, not going to either until I do my homework the dipstick shows it is empty...ARRRG!

Where to start...hmm I am thinking feed & return lines for the turbo.

Gad dam I hope I shut it down in time...wish me luck

Turbo oil feed lines have been known to crack.

Check your turbo shaft play. It may have taken that out. The engines are fairly stout, the turbo... not so much.

Good news, turbo supply line leaking at the banjo fitting, turbo seems fine! Sampled a small potion of the oil left in it, looks good.

Thank God for the the blinking red light accompanied with the ringing chime that alerted me it was running low on oil or this thing surely would have been toast.

I will be ordering a new line today...

Have a great weekend everyone
