Hi all,

My chevy now permanently cold, I checked the one thermo on top of the engine it appear to be bad, it wont close,
is there more than one thermostat? to change it are there any seals I need to change at the same time?

Many thanks

96 was a cut off year. It could have one or two tstats. On the dual there is alittle oring around each tstat, no gasket. Im not sure how the single is sealed but would think the same way.

I've only had good luck with AC Delco thermostats on the duals. On the singles I use a Stewart I think. You can search thermostat posts and someplace I have that posted. If not message me and I will look it up.

Don't waste yoour money or time on an off brand Stat.

The single stat IO use is 195 degree high flow, Stewart part number 306,
EMP Stewart Components
2900 27th avenue
Escanaba, Michigan 49829
906 789 7825

Other than that I would only use AC Delco, Though I'm sure there are a couple of other quality manufacturers.

Leroy, that T stat looks different than the one in my 95, mine has a rubber wrap around the 1/2" thick body.
