i finally found a motor for my 95 dually, and im thinking about buying alot of stuff from s&s diesel out of n.y. they seem real respected, just wanted to hear from the real people any pros/cons etc. thanks:

good prices on parts just don't let him sales pitch you. lots of hype and eager to sell you what you don't need. bottom line do your homework on the parts don't take his word for it

I would not purchase from SSDS, unless they have something you cant get elsewhere. Anything purely mechanical, no moving parts on it he cant really screw up but everything electical I got from him ended up failing. And shipping prices are way too high from them.

Don't believe what walt tells you. He doesn't back up his claims of horsepower. He is well respected in his infomertial web forum. Most of the stuff he sells is available elsewhere.

SSD would not be my 1st choice for anything, not as bad as Steak-Sauce, at least Walt's products work most times, after sales support with SSD sux.

One has to prove to Walt's satisfaction what he sold you was bad, I'd hate to think of the back & forth exchange to try to get warranty action on one of his engines, if he balks at living up to warranty for something like a FSD which costs almost nothing by comparison, yet here requires you send the driver back to him 1st for evaluation before considering replacement under warranty.

IIRC if you can't wait and buy another while waiting for SSD's evaluation/blessing for the warranty, you just lost the refund on that driver as I think at one time he would not refund the cost, just replace it. This and his shipping policies would negate this large of a purchase from him in my view.

thanks for the info. im on the west coast and shipping was one of my concerns. il continue to do the research and check out heath diesel. doesnt seem like there are alot places out here supporting the 6.5 so any suggestions are greatly appreciated. thanks for the help.

I did like his Stainless exhaust. It was a good well fit system at a good price to my door.
That same exhaust is available through JC Whitney or other Hearthrob distributers. Hearthrob's web site gives the disributers names and locations.

There are some site vendors to check out, ebay for exhaust stuff, pensacola diesel, accurate diesel, there are injection shops online that still support

Heath Diesel is just north of you in washington state....

Kenedy Diesel is also excelent to work with and carrys a good selection of what the 6.5 needs as well.
Lubrication Specialists and PMD Cable are also suppliers of some of the necessities.

Kennedy Diesel And Heath Diesel both have good tried, beat, and reliable well backed products.
X2 on the Hearthrob exhaust sold as his own...

havent posted lately, busy moving and stuff(nothin better before the holidays) however, im still looking for someone on the west coast that supports the 6.5. any help?im in the riverside area. any help would be great. happy holidays to one and all.

I would say no one directly local, but Bill Heath of Heath Diesel is a lot more local than SS Diesel Supply.

I have not bought from either, but Bills engineering looks solid and I have heard nothing but good about his stuff and ideas.
SSDS on the other hand, well, he is pretty impressed with himself with some of his claims.

I have also heard good about Kennedy Diesel, engineering looks solid as well.

As far as our vendors here, I have purchased from PMDcable.com as well as Walking J designs and have been very pleased, and have heard good about all of our vendors here at TTS

Personally, I wouldnt be afraid with dealing purely online with the vendors here, I imagine a decent chunk of their income comes from their vendor business, so that means they will try ten times as hard to make you a happy customer as compared to some guy behind a counter at a local shop.

You've been getting great advice so far... finding people who understand the 6.5 is hard. Finding people who don't is scary...

- The vendors here are top-notch.

The A-List:

- PMDCable.com (Leroy)
- LubricationSpecialist.com (Greg)
- WalkingJDesigns.myshopify.com (Patrick)
- theoilgeek.com (Ashton)
- creaturesofthenightperformance.com (Henry)
- norcaltruck.com (Nick)
- mwenterprise.com (Marty)

If you can't find what you need on their website, send 'em a note and see what they can recommend for you. Lots of stuff, they can get, or they know where to send you.

Non-site-vendors that I trust?

The B-List:

On the West Coast, you can call:

- heathdiesel.com (Bill Heath) - Washington
- usdieselparts.com (Bill Gomer) - Montana
- oregonfuelinjection.com (Mark) - Oregon

My advice? Start with our site vendors... they're stand-up guys. We wouldn't have then here if they weren't.

If you call any of these guys, tell 'em Jim sent ya. I'd love to recommend the non-site-vendors more, but they're, well, non-site-vendors. Remind them that if they sign up, they will make my A-list for recommendations.
