If you have ever had a PMD issue on any vehicle, including Hummer H1's that has the GM 6.5L Turbo Diesel that resulted in an accident, stalling or no start, please contact me. I have iniciated a NHTSA investigation with Bruce York and it appears it may lead to a huge recall, maybe one of GM's biggest. I almost crashed several times from failures on steep hills and windy roads drving my AM General H1 Hummer and lemme tell you, losing steering, power and brakes on a downgrade two lane steep windy road with your family is not fun. Please visit www..com and also I have several very good attorneys that will be pursuing this. Stanadyne and GM and AM General ALL KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE but did they disclose this serious safety issue when you bought your truck? Have they come up with a reliable fix? NO!!!!! They need to once and for all fix this issue or buy your truck back, period!

Oh good, make a zillion dollars for you lawyers and help put our favorite automaker out of business. Great idea, why dont you take your sht somewhere else.

Another great deal for the ambulance chasers[lawyers] just like the fuel tanks in the 70s-80s trucks. They make millions,we get nothing.

hmmm, lemme seee, maybe to save a life. hmmmm lemme see, because the zillion dolla company has been profiting and decieving customers and placing them in harms way on a known issue that once and for all needs to be fixed. hmmm, lemme see, because people like me should not have to be in a 5 ton truck with family on a steep 10% downgrade two lane windy road with cliffs and lose power, brakes and steering because of a known issue or having a 5 ton truck lose power on a steep hill right near his home and almost have to crash into parked cars to avoid slamming into a car full of kids. Your comment is almost not deserving a response. THESE ZILLION DOLLA COMPANIES NEED TO CORRECT THE SAFETY ISSUE THEY ALL KNEW ABOUT, THAT IS A VERY SIMPLE REQUEST, IF IT BANKRUPTS THEM, TOUGH!!!!!

As far as people thinking lawyers get everything, we get nothing, THINK AGAIN, the NHTSA is a government agency. If they make Stanadyne, GM and AM General, ALL GUILTY OF SELLING PRODUCTS WITH A KNOWN DEFECT, make it right, EVERY car owner with this safety issue gets his or her car fixed or opens the door FOR THE CUSTOMER to recover his or her losses. What is the main goal? TO MAKE THE VEHICLES SAFER FOR THE NORMAL PERSON that does not know how to put a band aid over a serious issue (PMD RELOCATION OR OTHER TEMP FIX!)

A truck will stop and turn without the engine running. I think the driver is the problem. Remote mount the pmd on a heat sink and the problem of stalling doesn't happen. Someone needs to do some reading instead of clogging the court system. The fix is less than 2 tanks of fuel costs.

Wow I thought people were intelligent on here, you have one press of brakes and 95% loss of steering, lets see you on a steep windy two lane road stay in lane and safely stop. FYI, driver here has in 30 years never had an accident, ticket and drives an average of 200 miles a day. Driver here has advanced driving courses from EVOC (Thats Emergency Vehicle Operation Course), evasive driving (For diplomatic security) and numerous other off road experiences like the baja 1000, Vegas to Reno and such, hmmmmm Vehicle is a 8800 pound H1 and at 60 MPH on a steep windy road, one press of brakes and loss of power steering and on coming traffic on one side and a steep hill, I DONT CARE WHO YOU ARE, you will be in harms way. BEEN THERE AND EXPERIENCED IT and in the other situation, 50 feet to stop 8800 pounds on a 10% grade with no turnout and only choice is to ebrake and downshift in neutral with vehicle off or slam into a parked car so you dont hit a small car as big as your tire full of kids, I DONT GIVE A RATS ASS IF IT CLOGS THE COURT SYSTEM, THAT SAFETY ISSUE NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY THE BILLION DOLLA COMPANIES THAT SOLD NEW CARS WITH A SAFETY ISSUE PROFITING OFF THE FRAUD, PLAIN AND SIMPLE AND NOTHING ANYONE CAN SAY, CAN CHANGE THOSE FACTS. Sure there are aftermarket fixes, you must have the chinese fix for the cost of 15 gallons or so. Get real. Someone can die from this, maybe it takes it happening to someone you know or your kid if you have any. I have 6 kids and one on the way and if this increases their chance to be safer, then I think it is well worth it.

I've been following the same thread at the other place.

To clarify, I'm not a lawyer, don't get involved with GM, nor NHTSA. I'm not from US, so GM is not my favorite "national" company, so, I'm not the advocate of anybody.

What I see is nvrescue, an upset owner of a 6.5. this owner seems to like the 6.5 though, but is upset because GM and Stanadyne know the fix for the PMD but continue selling it like it is.

The problem is not to himself relocate the PMD as he knows the fix himself.

Now, if people prefer to sacrifice to save a company from potential banckrupcy.....

Alll I can say is thta, if renault or Peugeot have found by myself making a car which has made my familiy being in danger, I will have go for trial without a ounce of hesitation.

As for the truck being able to turn and stop without engine, I was strong enough to do that both times when my PMDs did quit. My wife won't have been able to do that...

to make it short, I found funny that a guy telling you his family was in danger found replies such as " go save GM"...

just my .02

I actually think criminal charges should be brought on individuals and jail time incurred when these incidents happen. Toyota knew, BP knew, Firestone knew.
They cut corners, ignore know issues and hide the facts. Mostly because there is no individual responsibility. If the people making these decisions were held accoountable and given serious jail time for their actions, things would change.
As it is now, They make their money and the worst that happens is they lose their job. It would not surprise me at all to hear that people have been killed do to the PMD issue.
When it is found that a company knowingly ignored problems that resulted in damages to people or environment, the people that made the decisions should be held accountable.
If somebody got, killed they should be charged with murder and sentenced accordingly. If they make a decision to deliberately pollute, the same.
If individuals commit these same offenses, you bet your sweet bippy they will be spanked hard.
It is good to fine the Corporations but there are individual people making the actual decisions and they should be held accountable on an individual basis.
As soon as that happens you will see far fewer incidents in which corporate knowledge is involved

I read this thread while Fox News presented a segment on two sisters that died when the PT Cruiser they had rented caught on fire underway resulting in a collision and death. The rental company had previously rented the vehicle after they'd received a recall notification.

I think it's important that one separates the disappointment in the serviceability of the vehicle with any unusual danger. Vehicles stall. My wife's CTS recently did because of an crank position sensor. Stalling vehicles isn't going to get you a judgment. Certainly, it's annoying that there was a known problem and that GM doesn't support a platform that they had only recently sold.

Maybe the right answer would have been for GM to make Heath rich by purchasing all the kits he could make and giving them away. That said, everyone knows Heath's kit works,is stone reliable and arguably makes a 6.5 more reliable than a gasser that has as many or more weak links. That knowledge and a failure to act and correct it yourself would limit any award by a court.

I don't have a problem with anyone trying to muster enthusiasm for a lawsuit but I do think addressing the possibility of a judgment resulting in repurchase a bit disingenuous. GM repurchased a Jimmy from me in 1989 but it was "new"; many of us are maintaining vehicles that might be considered "used up". Mine's worth about $1.95. Any takers?

GM already extended the warranty on these to 10 yrs 120k. They are so old now that it won't stand up. I have a 90 burb that has GM paint peel. Those were under recall 15 or so yrs ago but now they would tell me to drop dead.

Lawyers,, Hhmmp, If this country weren't So dam sue happy,, we'd be better off.
If corporations had morals,, and individual responsibilities,, we'd be better off.
If this dude sold his Defective Hummer and bought something else,, He'd be better off.

If the first time you had a PMD failure, and didn't do something yourself to remedy the situation, shame on YOU. How can you hold GM responsible when they stopped making this combo long ago. Besides you can't sue the Government! as in Government Motors. I hate laywers and mostly defense attorneys. To be willing to represent someone that is guilty of murder, stealing, fraud,, ect.,, or drag a case out Sooooooo long that, I, as a taxpayer have to spend $$$ on these loser dikholes, that deserve to be put away for ever, or put down,,, Just grinds my gears the wrong way.

Hey guys, I had to jump in. My BF usually posts in here but my father almost crashed cuz of the PMD issue in his GM Diesel PU. I would have been so sad if my dad died because of a defect that should have been fixed. Everyone in here says GM knew about it.......Why the F did they not do nething????????????? If this guy is truly trying to force them to make a wrong into right,,,,,,that aint a bad thing.........Hey nvrescue I went to that link you posted and noticed search and rescue at the bottom and went there and saw hummers on the website,,,r those the ones you are having issues with? they fckn rock,,,nice rides. also do you do sar? If so, kudos to you ;)

OK, since people like to insult BUT NOT READ, the Hummers are for LIFE SAVING, The HUMMERS HAVE BEEN PMD RELOCATED IN THE BEST SPOT POSSIBLE. Let me tell you what we had to do to finally rule out everything since Stanadyne insisted their BRAND NEW PUMP WAS NOT THE CAUSE:

1) Change Accelerator Pedal (Already new voltage was fine in the 3 positions)
2) Ran Clear Tubing for AIR
3) Did Fuel pressure test
4) Replaced Fuel Selector Valve (Even though tested good)
5) Replaced BOTH FUEL TANKS and BOTH HAD DEFECTS IN THEM (Buldge and other with broken slosh guard)
6) Replaced ALL fuel lines
7) Replaced Lift Pump (3 Times)
8) Checked ALL wiring from PCM to Injection Pump and added new Diaelectric Grease
9) Removed ANY Emergency equipment inside H1 to ensure NO EMI
10) Ran bypassed fuel from external tank
11) Replaced Ignition
12) Changed Crankshaft Sensor
13) Changed Oil Pressure Switch
14) Changed PCM

We had to do these to rule them out. I knew it was the injection pump but Stanadyne was throwing a fit swearing it was not the NEW PUMP WITH THE NEW PMD. Keep in mind we have gone through 4 Injection Pumps so far on the 2002 and 3 on the 1999. Finally, after the last stallout I cussed out Stanadyne and told them to overnight me a pump. They said "Just because we will send you another NEW pump, most problems will go away just by unplugging it and reconnecting it....." GUESS WHAT, wtf do you think we did with the frigging wire harnass inspection!!!!! The minute we installed the NEW PUMP WITH ANOTHER GRAY PMD TO REPLACE A NEW PUMP WITH GREY PMD AND RELOCATED IT, ALL ISSUES WENT AWAY. THE shuttering and stalling then starting driving 10 feet and dying were symptoms that started two weeks after NEW PUMP AND PMD.

I had to ABSOLUTEY VERIFY WITH 100% CERTAINTY THAT IT WAS THE PMD'S. It also helped that during stalling, we finally had a spare PMD and connected it for brief periods and the issue went away temporarily. AM GENERAL stated to pour cold water on the PMD when we stall out. WOW that is a great answer. AM General even flew out and they did discover the tank issue and thought that was the cause but NOPE!!!

OFF THE RECORD AM GENERAL TOLD ME TO CONVERT TO MECHANICAL BUT THAT THEY WILL NOT SANCTION IT!

So the conclusion is, millions of people purchased diesel trucks under the assumption of reliabilty and NO SAFETY ISSUE when GM, Stanadyne and AM GENERAL sold them KNOWING OF AN UNSAFE CONDITION, SORRY THATS BS, FRAUD, NEGLIGENCE AND COMPLETE DISREGARD TO THE PUBLIC'S SAFETY. Anyone that says otherwise is NOT EDUCATED, wise or concerned for people. FYI: New vehicles despite last year of 2004 were still sold in 2007/2008. Overstock or unique vehicles like Hummer H1's. A friend of mine has a 2004 model and bough it a few years ago NEW! recalls can go back unlimited years but manufacturers are legall responsible for 10 years so 2000 and up are covered and I will tell you on an issue like this, if they dont cover all, they will definately have legal issues beyond relief. I hope GM, Stanadyne and others do go down for IGNORING PUBLIC SAFETY and PROFITING FROM IT!!!!!!!

GM and Stanadyne did not do nothing. GM changed the lift pump circuit in 1996 to prevent the problem. GM gave a 10 year warranty on the IPs because of it. They have tech data and service bulletins that address symptoms and to change the device. GM switched to a different PMD vendor with higher reliability. Stanadyne followed suit and improved their PMD design. This was way too late for any of our likings, but it happened. If you take GM to court you are a moron, because they will bring with them the miles and miles of data that says the system works, unless you broke something to make it not work. You overheated the vehicle. You red lined it and ran the water to 240F and then shut it down for the worst possible heat soak. You didnt use Stanadyne lubricity additive in every single tank because the US Govt made us use ULSD. You put too much weight on the vehicle. You missed a 3000 mile oil change. You put an aftermarket plow or winch on the front of it. You did one of the million things in the small print that GM/Stanadyne recommended you not do with the vehicle. They are not dumb and they will not cave. Every vehicle has problems, electronics fail all the time with no warning. There are many people that already know this is a problem but still maintain the thing on the IP, until it fails, or like me I leave it on the intake until it fails, or we warn people not to buy used ones but they do and use them until they fail. Who is at fault then?

careful guys Kayla's here to defend him!!

Kayla and nvrescue are on the same computer.
