How much are you guys paying for the K47 (I believe) filter housing at local junkyards? I found one, but the guy wanted $100... Help me spend my money wisely. Thanks.

Alright, so although I think it's a bit on the pricey, I guess I'll go for it. The donor truck has all the necessary hoses, clamps, etc. I'll fill my pockets and get my money's worth.

I paid $50 + shipping for a total of about $70 for mine. It was complete with everything including the bracket that goes on the inner-fenderwell.
Don

car-part.com pretty wide range of prices search 97k3500
That's where I got mine, paid $75 shipped. If you buy it and have it shipped make sure you tell them you want everything from the fender well to the turbo, that includes the hoses and the fender bracket. Also once you get it I would not go with the severe duty filter, it barely fits in the box and I believe you would be better off with a smaller filter than one that is crammed in there.

I checked out the site. There are a few here in tne Northeast. Prices range from $66 to $165. Believe it or not, the $166 K47 was reported to have at least 200k miles. Maybe I'll get in touch with the $66 junkyard....maybe I'll take a drive to my local j/y, and negotiate! There were alot of other little things that I was interested in as well. Such as; medium duty GMT 800 doorhandles, OH console, etc.
I like taking trips to the local junkyard, I like shaking the hand of the guy who is selling me the parts, I learn alot, and develop new ideas while I'm there.

One thing about that sites is that junkyard on car-part are not internet savvy. May be they are but not monitoring their inquiry. So they may not updated their listing for a while. Call them first. Most of them don't answer email inquiry either.

So going there is about the only way to deal with them.

I had a chance to grab the K47 today. I got everthing from the turbo connection, to the resonator/muffler tube, to the brackets. The only thing missing is the two clips, but since I made a stink about them at the counter, I got some other parts for the '05 for free. Besides, I've read that the clips will interchange from my original '95 airbox to this without a problem. Grabbed a new NAPA Gold light duty filter (the small one), and I'm looking forward to my next trip to VA to install. Thanks so much for your help, gentlemen.

yes you can re use your clips form your old box,, I did, but I also got this info Your local GM dealer can order them for you.

PN 25043286, list $4.08/ea at the moment

Which one?

I hope i am not to late on this tread to get an answer but it is the same thing I am looking for! I want to change my flat panel air box to the K47, went to the site that was recommended and this is two of the choices to click:6.5L, w/o hi-cap or 6.5L, hi-cap (opt K47) I am assuming that it is the option 6.5L hi-cap (opt K47) So to be sure which one is it, please let me know. Just want to make sure before I get one.

You're correct, it is the 6.5l Hi-Cap (opt K47) that you're looking for. How much are you forced to spend?

I just bought one of these last week, and i took the fender mount funnel peice off of mine, was I smart to do that, or am I hurting my "performance" doing that? I know Im told to remove the fender snorkel and I figure this would unhook it from their easier than fishing the snorkel out...(PS got mine for $42 and picked it up it was 10 miles from me! and it was COMPLETE!!!!)
