My son wants to go look at an 86 GMC with a 6.2 in it. I have no experience with the 6.2 other than driving them at work in years past. What are the major points to look for when I go to see this truck?

Thanks
Scott

Check starter bolts. Make sure they are both there as well as rear support bracket. Some guys end up with broken ears, jerry rig it and sell it. Also check the frame around the steering box. If it's a 4x4 they can be known to crack there sometimes. If the guy has ever used starting fliud on it, walk away. Check the alt belt. Worn pulleys can cause belt issues. they have them even with good pulleys. If you can see if it starts good after sitting a day or two(drainback issues common with factory Mech LP). Check the shaft seals for fuel leakage around the IP. If the truck has an OD tranny(700r4) take it to a reputable tranny shop and have it checked out.

way too many red flags on this truck, some little things and some that they tried to explain away with stories that didnt make any sense. I didnt spend much time on the truck since it really wasnt worth fixing all the potential problems as any price.

Thanks again
Scott
