im looking at buying a 1996 cummins dually for 2000 here is what he says about it "i have a 1996 cummins it has a fuel problem dont know what it is but it acts like its not getting enought fuel it has 100horse injectors eagle 1 clutches in the trans the pump has been turned up the truck ran really good but now its making a wierd noise the motor has around 86,000" what should I look for when I go look at this truck. Ive been looking for a diesel for a long time and this seems like a really good deal if its something simple. Has anybody had this problem before. Any input would be appreciated thanks guys.

Im not a Dodge guy but maybe lift pump?? Id check the fuel pressure on it

For 2000$ it's hard to go wrong even just for the motor and trans. Not a dodge guys either, but there's nothing wrong with a cummins. With that few miles, it should be good. I would take a chance if I had the cash.

If that wierd noise turns out to be a bad motor that $2000 doesn't become that good of a deal, at least IMHO.

Not enough information to give you a good idea. What kind of noise is it making, hows the oil pressure, blow by, etc., etc. Without a few more good specifics I think it'll be hard to give you an idea of what's wrong.

Yeah, not much to go on there.

I'd probably pass on it.

If you can get me the VIN I can check it out for ya a bit.
