This comes up every now and again, waste/used engine oil is not a good idea with optic or without, operative word is waste yes you can filter out solids but you can not change the chemical properties that have become part of the oil over time thru the combustion process, nor can you correct the Ph of the oil, nor remove condensation or water/coolant that has become entrained in the oil, thru fine filtration.
Yes you can get by with it, and yes old school smokers mostly 2 stroke Diesels got away with it, and the ole farm tractor or some OTR drivers swore by it back in good ole days of MFI, but longevity wise it's not a good idea, and yes this is all opinion, but opinion of somebody that used to run oil analysis tests daily.
Clean oil for lubricity yes in a low psi fuel system, never in a common rail system, "cleaned but dirty" oil as a fuel additive in my truck ???; never unless a end of days scenario and that is the only "fuel" around to get me from point A to B.
IMO generic 2 cycle oil. or SAE 30 non detergent is cheap & available blend that with your fuel if you feel the need and take your used oil/trans fluid to the recycler, yes it will work if diluted to be "seen thru" by the optic, but with the cost of injectors and IPs that alone to me says its a "bad idea", your truck put whatever you want in it, since you asked for opinons mine is no I would not recommend it.
