Wife was on her way home at midnight last night,.
she called me to say that it was snowing and blowing to beat hell and the engine was overheating and the heater started blowing cold air and she was afraid to blow the mill and get stuck along the highway
I went there with a can of coolant but found the recovery tank still full so i suspected maybe bad T-stat.
I fired it up and heard a couple loud cracks like a stuck inj but then it smoothed out and ran OK,coolant behaved ok so i said "drive it home" with me behind, snowing so hard at times one couldn't see the road,....and there were still some idiots passing us(one lane road)
This morning i put the coolant pressure tester on the recovery tank and pumped it up to 8 psi, the gauge held steady so i fired the mill up,soon after the pressure went up to 15 psi and rising and the coolant(still cold) rose all the way to the top of the rec tank. Then i opened the bleed screw on the T-stat housing and all i got was air, and then bubbles..
Looks to me blown head gasket.
