After reading about the pump rub on various boards I was getting concerned myself. I have a 2004 Z71 1500 with the manual transfer case shift. The T-case is a 261. My truck has 113,000 miles so I had the feeling that I was on borrowed time. I got a quote for 400$ to take out and put the new pump housing on and install the T-case. I ordered the merchant automotive fix. Instead of paying that kind of money I decided to do it myself, by myself. In a nut shell, it is doable with one person. Not fun though. I did not have to take off the transmission cross member. I left it on. I mad dogged the t-case out with out any problems. When I took the case apart I was happy to see that my groove was very slight and no hole. Clip was still there but I discarded it. Put it all back together and I did use a tranny jack to help get it back in. My truck is lifted so the tranny jack helped just to get it closer to where it needed to be. Then I mad dogged it from there. Everything went together pretty easy so to speak. The job took me about 5 hours. I don't have all the trick tools of the trade but do have a good basic set. Snap ring pliers are really the only special thing you need. So, now that it is done I am real happy that I saved 400$. I didn't have to by the rear case half and I have some peace of mind. Those who are on the fence about doing it yourself, go for it. If you get a friend to help to install the t-case will make the job easier and quicker. Good luck.

Not to mention the ability to "mad dog" that sucker back into place...:hihi:

Glad you got it fixed to your liking and Welcome to The Truck Stop!
